can anyone tell what kind of drum machine New Order was using in the early eighties, like "everythings gone green" and "truth"?

can anyone tell me what kind of drum machine new order used at the Taras shavenko gig...they used the same drum machine [which was controlled by barney] for EVERYTHINGS GONE GREEN and TRUTH. Steve just plays drums OVER another set of drums, which was a machine.

Sorry, I wish I could help you out. I vaguely remember an interview with NO in Keyboard Musician (or some other musician's mag) where they revealed their gear. Probably not the same gear as when they recorded "Taras Schevchenko". It does sound like the same electronic kit they used in "Hurt"...

The only thing I ever heard about their earlier gear was that Hooky played on Simmons electronic pads, in particular, the one we see him play in the video for "Perfect Kiss". It was never confirmed to me as being from Simmons or not.

Also, I think the Dr. Rhythm line of drum machines from BOSS didn't come out until the LATE 80's. (Boss is owned by Roland, by the way.) Judging by the times, it's more likely they may have been playing with gear from Korg, Alesis, and a couple of others...

First of all, I live in the south bay...good to see another NO fan from the bay area on the board (I'm sure that there are others...I've only been on here for about 2 weeks)

Second, My friend and I had a Dr. Rythm that we used for composing in 1985/1986 so they were around at least that early on. It was fantastic for using as a trigger for old analog keyboards...

Anyone here know what Hooky uses as his gear? I mean, besides his basses. I know that, when they first started in JD, he played higher-range notes because he couldn't hear himself over Bernard's guitar. Thanks in advance!
