What do you consider the best venue that they could play when they tour the UK?
And realistically where do you think they will actually play?
I hope it is not Arena's such as the NEC.
Birmingham Sanctuary in the Midlands is my choice.

I agreee with you Scott, i dont want arenas either, smaller venues rock!
I'd like to see them at Nottingham Royal Centre or the Derby Assembly rooms! For purely selfish reasons they are close to me! lol

I'm also biased, with the Sanctuary, because I regularly went to to the alternative student night a few years ago. Great gothic decor and good acoustics would certainly look & sound even better with the fab four fronting the stage.
(Liv, I take it we're fronting the Midlands campaign then?!)

When they tour in the autumn, we should meet up for a pre-gig bevvie or two! :)
Chances are i'll be at any of the gigs they do in the Midlands (Shes says that like she wont go to most of them in the country anyway! lololol)

Hopefully Brixton Academmy not the atrocious Wembley Arena, I heard that Hooky had said they didn't want to play barns. I will endeavour to go to all of their gigs wherever they play

My guess after reading the NME article it is going to be:
* Brixton Acadmey * Manchester Acadmey * Birmingham Acadmey
3 nights at each.
Don't laugh too loud, but wonder if they will call it the Academic Tour? ...I'll just get my coat !

Hopefully they'll play somewhere on the south coast,be it Brighton,Portsmouth,Southampton or Bournemouth.Travelling to London is a drag but Brixton Academy is a great venue.

hi i'd really like new order to play in Manchester after all that is where they are from they hardley ever play their home town if not some where in London as live 60 miles awy from there
The Manchester gigs are gonna be at the Apollo, so I guess it throws the 'academic tour' bit out of the window.
Can't wait for them to come back to London. Only one gig in 14 years? We've been STARVED!
The three main cities that are due 'multiple' gigs are London, Mancland and Glasgow anyway. I don't know if Birmingham are gonna be included on the tour. Although I have heard talk that the Glasgow gigs are now gonna be moved to Edinburgh.
It'll be a shame if they don't play Brum because this was, according to Gillian, where they played one of their best ever gigs and you always get a good crowd.
If they're playing about 12 gigs, maybe 3 each in Manc, the Smoke and Scotland, that leaves another 3 - Brum gets my vote for one of them!
I think they've over-exaggerated - I think it's just 12 European gigs. And they're defo playing Amsterdam and Paris (heard it from the horse's mouth, so to speak!).
That leaves one left! If you've got any influence, remind them about Birmingham 86 just before playing 'Weirdo' - if that doesn't convince them nothing will :-))

was that the tower ballroom gig?that was definitely the best new order gig i ever went to.didnt the place have plastic palm trees? i remember that was the first time i ever saw or heard happy mondays and then the newies played an absolute blinder.if i remember rightly didnt someone upset bernard by calling them a pop group?hope that wasn't you... yeah ,if it's still standing i'd love to go there to see them

Yes, that's the one and yes it's the place with the plastic palm trees! I don't know why but you always get a good atmosphere there - when I saw The Smiths play there Morissey threw his shirt into the crowd hoping for a 'souvenir scramble' only for someone to chuck it back at him! Very funny!
I remember Barney and Hooky arguing with somebody on the night (no, it wasn't me!)but didn't hear what the heckler had shouted to wind them up until I managed to get hold of a tape of the gig. It went something like -
Heckler: You f***ing pop group!
Hooky: Oh, a pop group eh? What's wrong with f***ing pop groups? You're at the front you c***
Barney: Come on stage and say that you f***ing t***. Come on, come on stage. Come on stage. Go on, you, come on stage. Hey, we might be a pop group but you're a f***ing w*****. Right Weirdo 1,2,3,4,1,2,3...
