Maybe Unknown Pleasures...temperate, direct, closer to Joy Division style.

Very true...and stick the photocopier up your arse!! Hard one...Brotherhood (I dig the blue over-tone)...but Technique is about .999999999999% behind.

(the rest of) is definate ca-rap ain't it? But that isn't the point...oopsy! ;)

Republic and Technique I nominate simply cos they're both vast improvements over the Vinyl equivalents.

The Technique LP sleeve would have worked brilliantly as a gatefold format with lots more colour variations on the statue inside..... Ditto Republic (crap record however) ;)

Well...The new compilation album "International" Had a neat poem in the booklet. I really enjoyed reading it. Artwork is always nice like in Technique or Republic but I'm not going to show it to my friends like I did the "International" poem

for Joy Division, Closer.

for New Order, Technique.

I rather like the Low-Life cover, and I like changing the picture once in a while, depending on what sort of NO mood I'm in. How shallow.

Back to basics - Unknown Pleasures every time - minimalist cover, interesting inner sleeve :)

The booklet in “Unknown Pleasures” is my favourite : it matches with the opressing atmosphere of the LP. Just by having a look at the photograph, you can indeed get an “Insight” into human inner feelings (and remember the noise at the beginning of this song, added by Martin Hannett...). The “Technique” booklet seems to be nothing but a tribute to Andy Warhol... which is not really original !
