In view of the utterly shit news that Simple Minds are to cover Love Will Tear Us Apart, just who do we, the assembled throng, think worthy of a license to cover Joy Division/New Order? And what track would they be licensed to do?

I would have Neil Young doing an acoustic version of Shadowplay, or maybe Lonesome Tonight, probably both!

Discuss, ad-lib, etc. etc.

I bet Steps would do a corking version of The Eternal....

I'd be interested to hear if the Mod-worker could weave his magical fingers over 'Sunrise' or JD's 'She's Lost Control' to provoke an acoustic stomper. Think Weller's 'Changing Man' or 'Sunflower'... Really, in order to get a decent cover you need someone with quality. (Neil Young isn't a bad egg).

Could Rick Hastley manage a take on 'Decades' or 'Isolation'?

Do we need the permission of Peter Waterfish to release the boy for a half hour session?

I don't think Ashtray could carry it off Huntsy, maybe one of the more poppy tunes like say S.L.Y. or Rugrat.

But wait...hasn't Damon pulled his head out long enough to do the vocals for "Clint Eastwood" by the Gorillaz? Don't know if you guys hear it much across the pond, but it is in "heavy rotation" over here.

Gorillaz is on heavy rotation in Belgium too...

I'm loathe to say it, but the Gorillaz stuff is not too bad, albeit with slightly muffled vocals (head still partly up arse, I suspect). I'd like to see someone like Orbital or Leftfield take on an old NO electro classic - "Your silent face" or even "The Village". Also think someone like Coldplay or Travis could do a stonking "Leave me alone". CTD
