Retro discounted

I've been buying Joy Division and New Order material since it first showed it's skinny little head (on those original, hand out, flexi disc). First in vinyl on those wonderful PSA artistic Factory releases (then duplicated on CD as possible). It's mostly been awe-inspiring. Some of it changed and/or formed the course of my life...as NO and JD were unintentionally at the forefront of that place where culture and art meld. This is something Retro can never do. They've been working on this idea awhile, probably longer than it took to get Raise the Pressure done. I remember something potentially called Recycle with all their singles and B-sides. Now that woulda' coulda'. I am once again reminded why New Order are the most magnanimous underachievers around. Retro will never fly, but it might float. Maybe they should just put out that 5th, free disk of the collection and leave the rest alone. I know too much already and I assure you this is no cause for celebration under any circumstances. I can’t see a serious collector snapping this up. Possibly for the modest mouse at best. May their laurels never rest and reinvention, accidents continue.

With all the bands remastering old studio albums with bonus tracks, I find it hard to believe NO could not do this. OMD, Depeche Mode, Pet Shop Boys, Ultravox, and others are all doing this. Most of those bands are no where as big as NO so demand should not be a factor stopping NO from doing it as well. Also Throbbing Gristle just released "24 Hours of Throbbing Gristle" a whopping 24 CD set of live material in a box set for like $270 US retail, selling for at least $170 anywhere. Now that is just plain crazy.

Why the Order can't at least issue remastered versions of their albums w/ some appealing bonus material is beyond me.

Great point about the TG box set. If they'll put this one on the shelves, surely a similar NO package is worth while.
