Just about any time (not always of course!) you see a lot of bids by a person with 0, 1 or sometimes 2 feedback its often a shill.

BTW I live about 1/2 mile from Ebay's HQ (and know quite a few who work there)

The shill will often bid early on as many people look first at items that already have bids and the higher the dollar value bid the more looks. So a shill will often bid early and not the usually abnormal "low" bid that most bargain shoppers would try to pick the item for (and pray that it isnt noticed :) ...but will instead bid a higher starting amount to help set a floor.

I usually will not bid on items that have bids (especially if I bid above them and they already have the price set high) by these types of people...

I've always fancied the 7" promo edit of Thieves Like us as it's one of my favourite ever New Order singles. But I don't think I'm going to be succumbing to some guy ripping us off on ebay - no matter what price they may want to bump it up to.

I'll keep my eyes peeled at future record fairs... :)
