Do not order Retro from Amazon/ lets all complain!

Here is the email that I just sent over to amazon after recieving my "extra tracks" retro with no 5th disc!!

If you got one and feel ripped off you might also want to let them know how you feel...there is power in numbers!

"I recieved a C4 D box set (Retro by New Order) that indicated "extra tracks"

The same box set that was ordered elsewhere included a 5th bonus disc with special tracks on it.

Where are the "extra tracks" (read my bonus CD) If there is no bonus cd then what exactly did you mean on your website by "extra tracks".....????

There is nothing extra about this. I had to take the box set out of the plastic wrap in order to see if the 5th cd was in there and now I'm very frustrated and disappointed.

I have up until now been a very satisfied Amazon customer...but am losing faith. Your site clearly says that I can't return it if opened but I had to open it in order to find out that there were in fact no "extra tracks" as indicated on your website and in your email confirmation to me.

Please let me know how you plan to help me resolve this...."

It's probably the same as CDUniverse - they refer to the live tracks of Disk 4 as "Unreleased"

Hey guys, that version of Retro you're talking about is the UK or US version? Did you order from Amazon US or UK?

I'm asking this because I ordered my copy from Amazon.co.uk and I'm starting to worry about the same thing... I sent them an e-mail, but no response was given.

UK dudes: are U sure that every single Retro copy has the 5th CD?

Don't bother Mick, I'm just too sensitive and worried about that fuckin' 5th CD thing... and pissed off with those Amazon.co.uk idiots that don't even answer my e-mails. :\pissedoff:

I ordered Retro with Amazon.co.uk and I have the bounus disc....uff. And in the item refference don't said anything about the fifth disc.

check out my CD universe complaining thread. similar problem. i remember seeing amazon's review mentioning the 5th disc, as well...bastards, the lot.

I supposed you have all already punched yourselves in the groin for this, but why didn't you all pre-order from hmv.uk when we had all the threads about it? Only $40 US shipped (with the bonus CD) - you can't get the UK or US version in the US with or without the 5th disc for less. My local record store still has a few copies of it with the 5th disc for like $55 US. Vertigo records in GR rules!

i only paid $40 on CD universe--i think they've upped the price now though ( and i got free shipping)...but now i'm really paying for it!

I live only a few miles from Boston, within minutes of virtually every large chain (including HMV) and hundreds of smaller new and used record shops. Even with that kind of selection, I wanted to be GUARANTEED I got the complete boxed set, including all bonuses. I pre-ordered RETRO from Amazon.com for one reason only: because it was advertised as containing the bonus material that was included in the first 3000 copies of the UK release. Well that sure didn't happen. Not to worry, I'm sure sets with the bonus disc are or will be available on eBay or through Rhino, or more likely I'll just pick up an import copy in Boston this weekend, but it does piss me off a bit that Amazon.com is so clueless and I have to go to the trouble of returning the damned thing now.

ATTENTION! ATTENTION! Be very very careful! The limited edition has exactly the same barcode as the 4 disc version (I confirmed it yesterday when I was trying to solve my problem- see "Shipwreck...") so maybe that's where the confusion started. Anyway I was also told that the limited edition is now sold out and impossible to find through the normal channels- that's wy those pirates at Ebay are charging impossible prices for it!

Ok a few things here:

1. I was talking about Amazon US
2. I already have two sets with the bonus cd (Opal & HMV)....this is in response to Wolfie's comments...I wanted one from the US label as sometimes I've noticed recording/sound quality differences as well as packaging quality differences.
3. I've got a set on preorder from Rhino directly (ordered around xmas time) and they better not try to rip me off...I know where their corporate HQ is and will march in there shrieking...

Oh...and I got my 1st reply from Amazon...

Here is Amazon's 1st reply to me...They did respond as promised within 24 hours and not just with a "form mail"...I'll give them credit for that...

now on to their answer...

Its not clear to me at all wether I can return this (my gut says yes...and my gut is getting bigger all the time thanks to fast food .)

Any suggestions, folks? I don´t know what to do.

Well...looks like there IS a reason to sometimes go with the Giant: Amazon.
