Yes, friends, I finally have my 5 CD Retro boxed-set! Went to the post office yesterday, stood in the queue for 45 minutes, and left in a hurry carrying my beloved special delivery! When I got home I unwrapped it even before I openned the door! Tears where almost pouring from my eyes when I saw that beautifull sticker "Limited edition bonus CD enclosed with 9 exclusive tracks..."! I opened the box and...

THE HORROR! THE HORROR!

THERE'S TWO, TWO (!!!!) "POP" CD'S INSIDE THE FUCKING THING AND NO "CLUB" CD ANYWHERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now... do I just kill myself and put an end to this misery or should I pay a visit to London Records' packaging department with a nice, shinny M-16 riffle?

Should I do a poll on this one?

This whole Retro thing is really beginning to stink. At this stage, the best way to save face is for the band's management to start sending CD-Rs to anyone who's been ripped off. Given that that's unlikely to happen, I'm sure someone would be happy to trade you a CD-R of the "Club" disk for one of your "Bonus" disk. If I had actually bought it myself, I know I would. Come on, someone do the decent thing.

Send it back and kick up a stink man!! you didnt pay for duplicate CD's and are entitled to the original CLUB not a CDR copy!

Now on a more seriously note: Thank you guys for your support, but this is what I'm gonna do: Fortunately, I ordered Retro through CDGO.COM, a portuguese webshop of wich I'm a client for many, many years. So I'm going to their "real world" office today and complaint (politely as they're friends of mine and either way it's not their fault!).

Return it, but keep the bonus disc at home !!! there's a chance they won't realize anyways.. and they can easily change you for a normal box set since it's the same.

But if you get another one, then send it to AgentWood :lol:

That's exactly my thought. Keep the Bonus disc before returning the boxset, otherwise you might be screwed a second time!

I was thinking about trading the extra Pop for the missing Club from one of the regular box-sets they have (it's been widely available here since December 16), but if my friends refuse I'll keep the disc 5, thanks for the tip!

Maybe you could auction it on ebay as a 'rarity'? Or just auction the bonus disk and make enough to buy the whole thing again...

NOTE!!

I have also seen many shops and/or CD-shops, who offer the normal retro 4CD box as "Limited edition" (so that you will think it is the special 5 CD version....).

Take good care, all you guys that still are going to order this RETRO box set!!

Methinks someone has badly fooked up this whole thing, and the people who are really suffering are the fans. Someone in authority should make an official statement at this stage - we (i.e. the fans, the people who pay their wages, which they should never forget) are being misled, ripped off and made fools of. It stank from day one, it still stinks, and I for one will not be giving any party involved any of my money for this product until it stops stinking.

Nothing wrong with mine, but whoever packed the fucker, put the CD's in the wrong places.......which led me to nearly having a heart-attack. So I say kick up a fuss :lol:

That's NOTHING compared to this:

One day I walked into HMV in downtown Montreal and bought what was, at the time, the "brand new" album by Front 242 -- Tyranny For You -- and when I came home, I opened the case and..... THERE WAS NO CD IN IT !!!

Now I thought "they're NEVER gonna believe this and think I'm an idiot trying to screw them", but far from that, I was told "no problem... this happens, from time to time...".

Here's some GOOD news, then! As I said yesterday, I went to CDGO.com's shop, and explained the problem to the guys, who then replied would have no problem fixing it. How? Easy, they ordered a normal, portuguese release 4-CD Retro -wich is due to arrive this afternoon as they had none on stock- and will just replace the second Pop with the missing Club CD!

But wathc out people: they said that if the problem was with the 5th disc I'd be in deep trouble, as the limited edition is officially SOLD-OUT!

Apart from Blackburn HMV shop where i saw today 3..yes 3! Retro box sets with the elusive 5th disc ...and in your case the elusive club disc.*L*

Hey...I think I've got the same 'rare mispressed' CD!! Haahaa.....I bought the 'VERY' CD as my third copy coz I have that 2-CD bubble pack and that orange studded case, so I thought it might be nice own the ordinary jewel case version....but I discovered that there's some folkie-tripped out psychedelic songs only after years of storage on my shelf.....a bit too late to return the disc, I guess.

Great to hear that things worked out for you, I would've worried as well.

Last year, I bought a US vinyl pressing of a Stereolab album on Elektra, and inside was a 12" single of Missy Elliot. Nice, but that's not what I was looking for at the time (and I had to drive 80 miles to exchange that one).
