Just watched this disorienting movie "Donnie Darko" and sure enough LWTUA comes on and plays throught the 1st verse and a half...

Checked the soundtrack but it doesn't appear...but would be on the DVD probably.

Thats two times in the past 4 hours that I've run into NO or JD completely at random....hmmmmm

Anybody else seen this movie? The rest of the soundtrack is Tears for Fears, Duran Duran (gulp) and a couple of other 80's bands....

This should be listed somewhere for reference....oh no..there is probably already a thread on this....lemmme check.

Sorry I knew.. I have the DVD at home(my "bird" to speak as the UK people loved that movie and bought it)

Yes it's in there, but not on the soundtrack, hence why I'll have someday to add a "movie" categorie for songs that are in movies but not on soundtracks ;)

There is a beautiful cover of "Mad World" by Gary Jules too, don't you think? it's the song playing at the end.

too true Spotnick. that ending sequence with Mad World is awesome. the music in that film is really well selected. if anyone reading this hasn't seen the movie yet....WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?

great movie, the soundtrack just has all the back ground mood music and the mad world remake, it doesnt have any of the other songs, so i made one with them included at the end

None of the songs played in the movie (except the remake of Mad World) is available in the soundtrack CD... I guess it's because the rights were too expensive. You have to pay the rights twice to include a song both in the movie and in the soundtrack CD. Maybe too expensive for a small movie like Donnie Darko. Anyway there are other ways to get LWTUA, right ? By the way, I remember I have loved the sequence where it is played, and this film is strange but is definitely a must see !

I loved this movie... I saw it last night in fact. LWTUA put a smile on my face, also.

i like how they played it just before Donnie got his groove on with Gretchen

I'm not sure if the 'sale' is still going on, but you can buy Donnie Darko from amazon.com for 14 bucks (and thats including shipping). My copy came yesterday. I haven't checked it out yet, but the commentary and deleted scenes supposedly elaborate some more on the plot..

that's a good movie...and i like following up LWTUA with The Church's Under The Milky Way.

i heard that in nyc, they are gonna start showing donnie darko weekly, kinda like a rocky horror picture show thing, i thought that was kinda interesting. Great movie, definitely a must see.

Yeah and if you read Franks thread about LWTUA and then they get their groove on and then Under the MILKY WAY it seems even funnier now doesn't it...

HMV too is doing a sale, 2 DVDs for 40$ CDN (in real money, it might end up 26$ US or something)

I saw it for the second time last night w/ my dad and his friend....my dad dozed off and his friend didn't seem to like it

I truly enjoyed it, the music, acting, photography and overall mood...

But could someone tell me WHAT THE FUCK DOES THE ENDING MEAN???? I'm usually good at these mind bending movies, but this is intense. Any thoughts?

PS- According to Imdb.com, the makers originally wanted to use "West End Girls" in the Sparkle Motion "dance" routine instead of "Notorious". But the rights to the Duran Duran song were cheaper. Go figure

i just got the dvd and watched it with the directors commentary, so apparently when the plane engine crashes into the house the first time everyone is brought into a parallel universe and frank has to help donnie get everyone back or the world will end, he also says while donnie is sleepwalking he has superpowers? very confusing but stilla great film, also frank is his sisters boyfriend which i never caught before, lots of stuff is explained very stange film indeed

:eek3: That does help. I do have the DVD till Sunday, so I'll definately have to check it again w/ the commentary.
