I was reading in the latest copy of "Jack" magazine about the Melodica that Barney still uses occassionally on stage (you know that plastic flute thingey with keys that looks like a kid's toy).
Apparently Ian Curtis owned the original Melodica because he was a huge fan of Augustus Pablo the Reggae king of Melodica. Anyway I decided to check a bit of Augustus Pablo out. Found an album called "This is Augustus Pablo" released in 1974. This all instrumental album is really quite nice - even though I'm not a huge fan of reggae myself. It's a real melodica fest !!
I got really excited when I saw a track on it entitled "Too Late" ! Especially as I remembered that New Order's "Too Late" was on the Peel Session which featured another reggae number Keith Hudson's "Turn the Heater on". Sadly Pablo's "Too Late" appears to bear no relation to the NO track.
On a different subject I was listening to an obscure Serge Gainsbourg album ("Initials B.B") recently and discovered that Black Grape had ripped off most of their first album from Serge. Anyone else noticed this ?? Naughty boy Shaun !!
