Hello all. New here. I have looked at several pages of threads but have found no comment on this. I have the U.K. issue of Retro.....was looking at the Rhino website and the track listing is a bit different on cd two.( the U.S. version has "Ecstacy" for example) Is this in fact true or is this a mistake on the Rhino site? Does anyone own both boxes and what are the differences if any besides this. Thanks!:-)

The only difference that I noticed was in the hidden tracks...e.g. Love Vigilantes live on UK cd and The Perfect Kiss (K Klass edit) on the US version...

On my version ALL the tracks were hidden. Apart from Love Vigilantes.

Mine too!! They're SO hidden, that I can't even find my copy of Retro. It must be somewhere, waiting to be bought by me.

I didn't check, but apart from the look of the bonus CD, everything seems to be the same...

I have not even got this yet!

Being out of the country for the last six months - in Poland - hasn't helped either.

I don't think any shops I've been to have any copies of it left.

The UK version comes with an outer slip-cover, while the US version doesn't. My eyes may be tricking me too, but I think the picture on the cover is not as good in the US version as in the UK version. There seems to be more "shadows" around the mirror ball. Can someone else confirm?

Sorry, I have the spanish Retro, with Thieves like us and Love vigilantes live at Move 2002 as hidden tracks on the bonus CD. And an enhanced new album's demo...really great.

ok, maybe i'm still mistaken about this,

but i've seen two different times for this track:

  1. The Perfect Kiss - Live Video Version 5:13

while others say

  1. The Perfect Kiss - Live Video Version 9:55

apparently its the edit on the UK promo version? (see the discography on this site for the time)..

and the full version on the US release.

This is all intriguing. But which version to buy - American or English? I am going to a music shop to pick up one. But I don't know what's better.

I've just checked my MP3s I made from the bonus disc - the actual time of The Pefect Kiss MP3 is 9:57. That's the bonus disc promo from hmv.co.uk.

The shorter version of TPK video version was originally released on a vinyl promo, if that helps (see the niagara discography).

The UK pressings, artwork, paper quality, etc. have always been two or three notches above the US releases. I try to get UK imports as I can afford. It feels like the real thing. Sometimes American stuff just feels cheap....and it is. I hear these stories about the guys in the band gluing up their own album covers on the early Factory stuff. No wonder it feels that way.

yeah, it's on London Records/Warner Music Group in Burbank. It has the 9 minte plus version of Video "Perfect Kiss". The disc is quite good. I'm stoked and surprised. I was lucky to a comp copy.

Well, last night I bought the American release of Retro (no bonus). Yahooooo, I am so happy. The only shadow is the quality of the live tracks. You guys got me. I was really looking for hidden tracks (which, of course, doesn't go with such record companies as Warner or London). It would be a nice idea at Factory, but not there. I want some more.

Wait till you see some of Australian made CD covers or packaging.....like all the NO Cd singles that are available in cardboard sleeve....the UK version has high quality print on dense & hard white-backed cardboard whereas we Aussies have to put up with bad ink printed on thick but soft toilet-paper-inner-roll type of cardboard....

A funny one that comes to my mind is the fiasco behind the U2 CDs produced in Australia during the Achtung Baby time - 'The Fly' CD label was sooo bad with inconsistent ink smudges everything that the next few singles were import from EU....the funny thing is that these badly manufactured Aussie CD singles has become a rare collectors item now...( and i have a few...heehee )
