A few people here will have a laugh again knowing thay we've just been the object of threats by Razormaid (yes, those who do these "remixes" for DJs only). Nicolas has just brought this to my attention.

Those Razormaid people sure take themselves very seriously. I can't say I'm too impressed with the RM remixes I know. Cut and paste indeed. I can do better with my Soundblaster mixing studio.
As your response indicates, their threat to contact the Factory Records legal department is very scary indeed.
Just checked their site - the link you provided is publicly available on it - no need to log in or anything. IMHO they should be grateful for a bit of support from yourselves - what is their problem anyway? The email you got from them seems like little more than paranoid rant.
Sounds ridiculous, Sébastien. They don't have ANY legal arguments to sue anybody based on this.
I had wanted to order their NO remix collections, but the registration process was so ridiculously cumbersome that I decided it wasn't worth the trouble.

I'll probably dig out old emails and print everything on here, it was back in 1998 I got threats from them.

I just added Joseph Watt's response to my e-mail to them. Take a look at how much this guy is sympathetic. *insert irony here* 
I can't believe that guy was actually involved in the making of my favorite Subculture remix...
They really are incredibly obnoxious, aren't they? "The last time we heard a good New Order song, they WERE on Factory." No wonder they can't sell anything when they make the process so difficult.
One funny thing there, is that that link can be found by ANYONE who goes to Razormaid.com, not only members.
When I received this yesterday I felt bad for Jean-Christophe, then I realized he did nothing wrong at all, since I went there myself, and he only pointed the direct link instead of going to Razormaid.com
And I'm SURE they wanted to offer us the CD for 15$ each , as far as I know, you must be a member of Razormaid, or otherwise they break up their agreement with London.
Seriously, I just don't get those guys.. how can a simple news pointing out the release of that album can harm them? maybe THEY didn't ask the permission to London 
with cheap or free software any person with the slightest musical knowledge can pull off the same quality (and better) remixes that are offered by Razormaid. Their versions are not that interesting and with the exception of the excellent SubCulture mix, are simply spliced versions of the vocal and instrumental tracks. Toss in some cheesy samples and voila, you got yerself a "Razormaid" mix.
Razormaid haven't been important since NewOrder left Factory so perhaps that's why they are so bitter. I don't know a single DJ who still pays attention to Razormaid. More over the hill than the lads from Manchester without a doubt.
Now that is hilarious - This guy Joseph Watt's really demonstrates that he,apart from being a poor remixer, really are having some seriously problems with his temper and abillity to inteact with other people - I feel sorry for him.
I wonder if I'm the guy they arrested in Copenhagen, well arrested is just a little bit overestimated, I am from Denmark, and they booted me from the razormaid memberlist back in 1998 - my only offence was to inform the ceremony list of their products - the exact same offence JC Pacaud have done now.

Patrick, you aren't missing much. Besides SubCulture, the only other Razormaid version i ever play (and its rare that i play it) is 586. I haven't heard the new round of mixes but i doubt they are worth much.
They did do a decent job of combining the 2 best versions of Underworlds Skyscraper I Love You...
The old Razormaid compilations are easily found here in Seattle for usually less than 10bucks....their time is truly up and nothing proves this more than their sad attempts to stop people promoting their work. I wouldn't want my work promoted either if it took NO TALENT to pull off.

It does seem very bizarre. If they have such a low opinion of NO, why did they take the trouble to do a discful of new remixes?

As I recall - and I'm sure someone watching will tell us soon enough - Rob G. told me that the N.O. Razormaid "remixes" were barely legitimate in the first place...

well ffs lets face it ,whats a dj?? someone who plays records? guess we are all djs then eh hehehe. cant see whats there problem myself,but i can see they are in severe danger of disapearing up their own arse.
Funny as it is, the last email was very polite, and as a matter of fact, they are offering us to promote the CD with a special price for NOOL members... 
I don't think many people would disagree, even him says Razormaid have the "asshole" tag , let's say they are quite a bunch.
Idea was that, well, they asked us to remove the link because it was outdated, and because of that people would think they sold them all, and would want copies instead of buying it 
Well, I hope next time they'll read before pressing the panic button.
They still have that argument : "OH, well you've been not nice with us, we initially wanted to sell to the fan club our fabulous remix CDs a couple of bucks, now, with all the mess done, go to hell."

you guys (webmasters) were making free publicity for these guys helping selling their products. if they don´t want you to help them anymore then don´t do it. if their mixes are so bad, why do we care anyway?

I see their email was written by the Razormaid owner, if he is their representative and thats the best he can come up with to get a bit of free publicity then its seriously backfired he has just irreversably damaged whatever reputation they might have had! clutching at straws mefinks...

yes, "In Hindsight I" was far better. On the VOLII, the only interesting things are StateOfTheNation and MrDisco....
