Well, only an hour or two to go before the second show at the Apollo kicks off.

I hope we can expect a few different songs being played, such as Love Vigilantes (since they rehearsed it for last summer's gigs anyway). I would certainly hope to see more songs from Technique being played, aherm, ANY SONG from Technique I should say.

I think 17 songs is still a minimalist set for a band with such a back catalogue and a 25 years career...

Only a quickie coz its late (as the actress said to the bishop!).....

Same set list, no changes at all...(except for the graffiti on the amps and the noticable absence of Gillian and a gathering of children....i thought it was the fucking Waltons at one point..)

Amazing atmosphere....havent had so much fun at a gig since i went to see punk bands when i was a teenager....

Was right at the front getting mauled by all and sundry, and from where I was they fucking ROCKED....

I may be shot down for saying this, but i was totally blown away (I know back in the years when this was all orchards things were better... *yawn*)....you miserable bastards might not like things about it, but i appreciated it for what it was, NO playing live and rocking the shack....fuck the technicalities, Jesus I'd watch them busking mates, so to me, i loved every second...as i did yesterday

For those people whinging about the sound, be fucking greatful they arent playing Earls Court...things could be much worse....

Right, two down, Thursday in Brixton to go... No matter what others think, I havent been disappointed yet, thats why its 3.30am and im stil awake...

Liv

BTW, was "dancing" (more like mating at one point) with a bloke i got chatting to from Bournemouth...Chris P??? It wasn't you was it and I didnt realise???

Oh and to the guy in the black and white checked shirt, I wasnt touching you up, It was just a bit...erm...claustrophobic at one point... *ahem* .... LOL

All I can say is 'WOW' how good was that?

I thought Thursday night's performance was good, but last night just made the world seem such a wonderful place to be alive in.

That was the most fun I've had in my life EVER bar none.

Fookin ell, roll on next week. I'm sooooo tempted to go check out the Glasgow gigs now, but that shite thing called work gets in the way.

Anyway, NEW ORDER, if you are reading this, THANK YOU for making a Friday night so out of this world.

I'm still in a state of euphoric shock - can life get any better than it did last night? I surely think not; but one can live and hope.

Here's looking to Thursday at Brixton now, bring it on

Gotta agree that last nights gig was absolutely amazing. Was right at the front against the barrier admiring Bernard's new dance techniqe which was unique, however I'm not too sure about the facial expressions at times!! His whitles and 'whoos' were as exiting as his sweet voice. I know he may have put on a bit of weight but he still rocks big time. Nice one Barney :D

Fuck me! even better than Thursdays gig, The atmosphere was so much better than the night before, roll on Brixton! It wasn't quite the same without Gillian, but what a night!

The audience were amazing, I didn't hear anyone moaning last night, everyone just went wild from the start!

I am gutted that I didnt manage to catch Hooky's tee shirt when he threw it into the crowd!

As one of the "whingers" yesterday, I'd just like to say that:

  1. Glad Friday was a good 'un - see you all at Brixton next Weds.

  2. I'm certainly NOT some anal retentive techno-boffin, but when they played "YSF" at the Olympia I was nearly in tears; when they played at the Apollo on Thurs, I was again nearly blubbing but for very different reasons (its a synth-based song! You couldnae hear the synths, captain!)

  3. They were still brilliant, I love them, Barney's dancing just gets better (I saw about a dozen sweat-soaked fans doing hilarious impressions at the bus stop when I was driving home!), it was a great gig. If I felt that the fans were less boisterous than usual, perhaps we can put this down to the fact that a) it was like a furnace down the front, and b) er, none of us are getting any younger!!

To reiterate, the best band in the world ever. And I'm regretting not driving up last night and lining the tout's pockets.

Enjoy Glasgow, folks!

Better than Liverpool and thats some going. Temptation was the highlight for me, would have been perfect as the last song rather than BM and i thought Phil Cunningham was good. They should lose Slow Jam from the set, it was the only weak point but Close Range £ Rock The Shack were really good. I've seen them 4 times now and i think that was the best, but the other 3 times i was pished and cant remember much, so this time i've got memories for my £26. This may be controversial but i think gigs over an hour can be a bit long, especially when your in need of a beer. Barney said they were playing better than on Thursday which is a bit of a shitter for those who went on Thurs, still the atmosphere plays a big part and i'm sure i would have enjoyed Thursday too. A great night and a great band.

really great on friday. didn't go on thursday but apparently the same set...bit of a shame when they've obviously recently done others (e.g love vigilantes and isolation)ceremony and transmission were fantastic and your silent face too.... sound was a bit crap but not as bad as thursday by all accounts...not really the same without our gillian...backing singers?blimey!dance routines next...so,minor gripes aside, absolutely blinding.hope to see a few different tunes in brixton next week, but let's face it,unlikely!but i could be wrong, maybe they'll open with mesh!just shows how great this band is when they can play a brilliant 100 minute set with nothing off their two best albums...who else could do that?roll on brixton...

See you about on Wednesday Chris. I've also been getting in the mood by watching Reading'98 (316). Still haven't spotted myself down the front, but i suppose it's because I'm only 5'4". Keep it coming....

Blessing in disguise really....I originally thought I had booked tickets for downstairs at Brixton but realised I'd got 'em for upstairs (Circle) when they came through the door. My days of getting crushed are gone too (Reading 93 & 98 were enough for me!)

So if you see another short arse loosing and giving it some to Temptation, look no further.

As the great man of verse Mozzer once said"Short arses of the world unite and take over". I love me as well.;) only joking.

Hate to put a downer on things, but I was a tad disappointed that we got the exact same 17 songs again on Friday. Where's the Rock & Roll in that?! Wandered back from the front to the Mixing Desk during the Slow Stuff to check at the mixing desk what songs were gonna be played and couldn't believe we were getting the same set again. Andy Liddle - soundest bloke in the world! - was very apologetic. Hilite was meeting Rowetta by said mixing desk - didn't even realise it was her till she mentioned the Mondays! Lovely lady.
