How distracting it is to see Barney look down to his right at the teleprompter/autocue every ten seconds to catch the next line of lyrics. Seems to make his singing less emotional or heartfelt.
How great it is that we get to see snippets of the other gigs in the bonus features.
How frustrating it is that we only get to see snippets of other gigs in the bonus features. It would be great if NO would release these gigs in their entirety.

Couldn'a said it better myself Tracy!!! Good show...
I find 5 11 a great disappointment. Whereas 3 16 showed a good atmosphere with well executed songs, this time the whistling and shouting gets the upper hand. The inbetween commentary is funny, and the extras are interesting, but as for the show ....
I listened to 5 11 up to Close Range this morning, but didn't watch it on the television. So I can't comment on the video, but only on the audio recording.
- I like the presence of a real backing singer. It adds a soul to the songs. I was very disappointed to hear pre-recorded backing vocals during their gigs in Paris. Why couldn't they hire a real singer during the whole tour?
- Atmosphere is great, without too many whoops, barkings and shoutings.
- Regret really kicks your ass. The best live version I've heard, chock-full of energy.
More comments later...
Brutal is absolutely brilliant and Crystal too, I just wish Old Trafford was recorded live, missed that one, bummer!!

gotta agree here with 2 and 3; just got the dvd yesterday and played it and was excellent. and to top it all off was the other bit of the '98 concerts, and i'm thinking like yeah, release these also (although i do have them on mp3), but it made the disc much better...Digital was awesome

Barney's dancing is so ridiculous. Why the hell does he behave like that? Maybe he needs a psycho-analyst... Fucking ape. And then they dare to pretend that they've become more professional. In the circus business, maybe?
hey...I think I saw myself on here...at least my roomie says it was me...I shall have to explore this one further!

Cum'on Benoit, give the lad a break, would you have it dancing with choreographed movements, wireless head strapped microphone
a la Madonna and go-go's? He's just having a laugh!
Personally I find it quite funny and in-yer-face.

Honestly, I prefered the early days when he didn't move at all... I'm quite sure that it should be possible for him to move without being clownesque. No need to become Dave Gahan or Madonna however. There must be an intermediate solution
.
Plus: The daylight part of the show, because the only time I ever saw them, they playd in the daylight.
Plus: The live background singer, I hate it when they use a recorded voice.
Minus: Hooky grabbing Phil's ass
Minus: How they messed up Temptation. Even if it was funny.
Don't know what's up, but I can post all the time tonight.. ![]()
I'm watching it tonight as I bought my copy (I have a promo, but since it's PAL, I wasn't able to use the computer, which produce nicer sound than my sound system due to very bad speakers and no subwoofer), sound is good, guys enjoy themselves...
Since it was in June, it's in daylight for a while of course, but it's always been weird to me to see a show in daylight ;)
Hooky's cover.. well, I'd love to have the clouds I must say, but I won't buy another one...!!
yeah, about the daylight thing, did the concert go into the early evening, or was it cloud cover, which, in the later songs look cool???
Unless England is a lot different from here, I'd say the show started at about 8-8:30 PM?
Al Jarvis already said a few times, it was raining all day, it stopped at the exact moment New Order went on stage.. then the sun came out. (Hence the cover of the UK edition)
Just got mine yesterday. It rules! I will hear no whining about it. I am just glad they did it. The only thing I did not care for, was the teleprompter thing. It was odd.
Also, if Gillian does not come back, I will probably never see them live. Without her it just feels wrong. Please come back Gillian.
Did y'all see Hooky hurt his finger and quickly try to act like it didn't hurt, but you could tell that it did?
