here is a thread where we discuss our favourite JD covers. first i gotta say codeine's cover of atmosphere is probably one of my top fav covers. they we're part of the slo-core scene and turn atmosphere into a really sparse, yet moving piece. and low's cover of transmission is really good, again along the slo-core vein.

of course there is the prerequisite, the swans cover of lwtua..etc. so what are the favourite covers out there, and if possible check out codeine's version, its nice!

 That cover of Ceremony done by New Order was quite good.

Seriously though, there are some absolute shockers out there. One of the better ones however would be Stanton Miranda's LWTUA. Only my opinion, of course...

I really like that cover of "Transmission" on "A Means To an End" tribute. As matter of fact it is one of the few tracks I really like in that album.

I don't remember the name of the band and I'm too lasy to search for it now... but I think you guys know what I'm talkin' about...

My bands cover of LWTUA is pretty good :)

I do enjoy the Cure's cover, a lot infact.

NoMeansNo played Transmission live, they did it in Ljubljana back in 89 or 90, it was even released on tape here, that was very good, had some of the original energy. ...but most covers are not worthy.

the low cover is pretty good, but sounds really different (naturally). i got it on a free CD compilation with a purchase from, of all things, urban outfitters clothing store in NYC back in the mid-90s. moby's 'new dawn fades' was on the compilation, as well.

Anyone knows the LWTUA cover by Paul Young ? Shame on me, it was there that I heard this great song on the first... I still like this version though the original version is far far ahead...

i heard xiu xiu's cover of ceremeony yesterday, which is incredibly dark, yet pretty good. its fairly similar except instead of sumner's guitars, its replaced by schreeching feedback and random loud percussive sounds.--and be prepared for extreme histrionics from the vocalist.

The Cure's cover of LWTUA is excellent.

The cover of "she's lost control" by Girls Against Boys is pretty good in my opinion. I think it was off the soundtrack for "series 7: the contenders". A more uplifting take on the track.

Squarepusher's cover of LWTUA could have been a lot more interesting than it turned out to be. Judging from his other stuff, I was expecting one of my favourite songs to be interpreted into unrecognisable madness. Unfortunately not :( I suppose he didn't want to deviate much since the song was so good in the first place.
