Impregnated by New Order

Have you ever impregnated someone with New Order? Planted that seed and watched it grow full term into a healthy bouncing obsession? 9 months ago I gave a 21 year old female colleague who was into Pink, Wycliffe Jean, Urban kiss etc. the 24hr Party People CD and suggested she listened to some classic stuff from when I was a bit younger. Within a few weeks she showed me the Best of New Order CD she had just bought. I lent her a few other NO CDs. Recently she lent me her Movement CD on the basis that I didnt damage it!! So its gratifying to know that my influence has created another member of the Order! Any other successes?

Well, I've managed to exert serious influence on one online friend... In the space of about a year, maybe slightly more, they've got (the best of), Substance, five studio albums and the 3 16 DVD. Plus UP and Closer, Still and Permanent. Not a bad year's work of droning on constantly about the Order.

Mind you, he is male, so I'm not sure I like the "impregnate" phrase!

Another real life friend (yes, I do just about have one or two) accompanied me to my last New Order gig, and has Get Ready - which he was playing in the car the other week - and also Substance, I think. Not obsessed or anything, but he always speaks highly of New Order.

So, you know, I do my best. :D

EDIT: My 100th post! I am now promoted! How exciting. And that only took fourteen months of visiting daily.

Managed to convert my beloved very easily (no mean feat, considering her aversion to half of the other stuff I listen to !)

Well Benny, if I remember rightly a certain thread here had something to do with your going for your beloved so it's only fair she's converted now.

One of my closest friends is a huge fan of The Cult, he's almost as fanatic about them as I am about NO. After all these years of musical depravity (and we've known each other since University!) he had never admitted that NO were anything more than OK.

Then I played Crystal to him and he said it were the best song he had heard for ages. When I told him it was the new New Order song he was ecstatic and asked me to tape it for him. That same evening he called me to ask me not to bother, he had bought two copies of Get Ready, one for him and one for his girlfriend (they live in different towns). He is converted now.

I tried but I could not. But I have a friend that likes Technique very much. I'll try to record him some NO stuff.

Another friend told me last week to make a NO CD for him with my favourite songs. I'll make him two.

My mom loves Get Ready, but I'm not sure if she's too keen on the rest of the back catologue (I think she likes True Faith and Vanishing Point though). Tried showing 5 11 to my dad and sis, they just dont' get it. Guess some people are lost causes...

Errm...Almanso, you do realise what girls like in Bon Jovi don't you? and it's not the music. I was puzzled when my own girlfriend and some of her female friends expressed an interest in Bon Jovi only to realise (somewhat relieved!) that they liked the man, not the music.

Come to think of it that's nearly as disturbing!

Introduced a young, impressionable laddie known as Shugzv to the musical delights of the Order. Good to see he's kept the faith, and is now more fanatical than I am.
