A New Order cover that... isn't??

I've downloaded this so called cover of a so called New Order song. But it is in no way a New Order song. But alas, it's a good song. The file was "le ther strip - New Order Cover.mp3"

The lyrics go something like this..:

"And the beat of my heart mounts the passing of time, And I just want to scream to the sky, And there are times where my mind is an explosion of feelings, And I'm trying to hold on to the _____________(something I can't make out)"

Could anyone tell me the name of this song and it's original artist? Thank you.

Oooooh that takes me back. Long term memory kicking in now. That sounds like "Soul Inside" by Soft Cell from about 1983. I think the actual words that you can't make out are "And I'm trying to hold onto the Soul Inside". It was on their last album "This Last Night In Sodom" when they got a lot noisier than their earlier bleepy stuff which they're more famous for.

The band covering this Soft Cell song is Leaether Strip, a one-man band from Denmark, quite big in the 90's in the electro/industrial scene.

He did an EP of Soft Cell covers named "Anal Cabaret - a tribute to Soft Cell" with 5 tracks : "Baby Doll", "Sex Dwarf", "Insecure Me", "Soul Inside" and "Youth".
