why not make some money and get some exposure... and get some cash for old age travel and fun... they have paid their dues, stayed indie for well over a decade... they crashed and burned-(out), and then even made a respectable and interesting comeback record in their forties, hell, they are just happy to get some attention... they outta rewrite Temptation as a Pepsi jingle, All Day Long as a personal hygiene product theme....

Is anyone really sure that Get Ready made money as a standalone album/cd? My guess is that they licensed their way to a profit (if any) on GR.

When my best friend suggests their next album should be called "Retirement"...he isn't kidding. NO need to put their kids through school as well now dont they.

Yeah I think it was for $200,000 which is a heap of money back in the late 80's.

they also play a few get ready songs on the bbc america show "what not to wear" watching it last night i heard crystal in the background, and in other episodes i heard slowjam i think as far as musicians giving their music to commercials and such i dont think its selling out, they didnt write the song specifically for the product or the show and c'mon if they didnt make money doing music why would you even bother? basically they make their brand of music and now its in demand so i think they deserve it like other artists that were basically underground and are finally able to make a lot of cash, iggy pop comes to mind, is he selling out?

i saw the CSI episode the other night where 'crystal' was played in the background. i was quite happy to hear it, actually, on my favourite show. (and, no, i'm not that chick who sent those e-mails out a few months back about the CSI soundtrack. i swear!)

Didn't Rob Gretton paint a big big 200.000$ note and put it in front of Barney to sing the sunkist-lyrics staring at the Dollar bill right in front of him? Dirk The "sell-out" started with their success in Northamerica after Technique, but it's somehow o.k. with me. Opposed to some hypocrits (spelling) at least they would alway tell everybody the truth who's asking them.

the thing that really irks me is that new order featured billy corgan on Get Ready. albeit a very subdued corgan, which is good. granted, SP's siamese dream was a great album years ago..anyways, i'm ranting.

..i dunno about the ads thing, though. i like hearing songs from bands i like on shows--but not on adverts, despite the fact it is almost the same thing. but then again any exposure is relatively good expose, right? yeah.

one of my favourite bands, stereolab, was on a VW ad and i was excited..maybe i'll finally be able to talk to somebody about stereolab, if they'd like that song. ;)

Sorry to get off topic - but don't trust those bloody Husky's. As Frank Zappa sang - "watch out where those Husky's go, and don't you eat that yellow snow". I have a friend who had 2 Alaskan Malamutes (spelling???) similar to the husky and one of them attacked his wife and mauled her outa the blue. This after a few years as a peaceful pet. Ok, he was chewing a bone on a bush tramp when it happended, but never exhibited these tendecies before. They reckon he would have killed her if he wasn't tied up and she hadn't slipped out of reach. Had to be airlifted to hospital. Don't trust those buggers.

i don't mind it, as long as i don't hear them on every other commercial!

blur's song 2 and iggy pop's lust for life...those songs have been used to death in commercials. and as much as i respect these guys, but they're edging right into "sell-out" territory.

This is a business. They are making $$$$$$, but they are not selling out. This is such a ridiculous phrase.

Concert wise they have sold out. Tapes, virtually identical sets and no experimenting... Hell id rather listen to the CD then at least I wouldn't Barney going 'whoo' every 30 seconds ( which is 'whoo-this bit is NOT on tape')

i agree. they're good at what they do. if they happen to make money doing it, more power to them.

I say sell,sell,sell, they deserve every cent that they get. It's about time that the rest of the world gets to know NEW ORDER.

Come on, seriously. New order are beyond "selling out". It should be apparent to anyone who follows the band or knows their history at all that they don't give a shi* about anything. Of course they want to make money, who doesn't? But "Selling out" implies an intentional wrongdoing of some kind. New order?... Naaaaahhhhh.
