most influential New Order album?

i apologize if this poll has been done before.

i really don't know what my answer is yet - i think i'll wait and examine others' arguments before deciding. i think i might be leaning towards PC&L, though.

PC&L, still sounds fresh, now imagine how fresh it sounded 20 years ago. There wasn't a lot of electronic stuff out then, some of the tracks are quite experimental, they were really breaking new ground at the time.

I went for technique cos it influenced a lot of sad indie kids like me at the time to get out of their bedrooms and live a little. Far more so than any of their previous albums.

PL&C is my choice too. Obviously. It was the icebraker..

Movement was the one that started it all. In a sence, Movement helped New Order figure out their sound and helped them to cope with the loss of Ian Curtis (think of the songs: ICB (Ian Curtis Burried), The Him (that was Ian again), Dreams Never End (JD's music will live on through the surviving members)). Movement was the album that made New Order what they are today, so I think everybody owes it alot of respect.

I voted for Brotherhood to make a different point.

The electro-acoustic stuff on there was pretty influential to lots of bands in the late 80s and 90s, I am thinking specifically of one: the Smashing Pumpkins.

Just because a lot of people appropriated the style and raped it doesn't mean we can give Brotherhood the respect it deserves.

i totally agree. Brotherhood isn't one of my favorite NO albums, but it's certainly an important one, and one of their most interesting (i.e. Angel Dust, Every Little Counts).

Yes Movement started it but in PC&L a new sound / "attitude" emerged. Movement is a great album (and I think consistent as they claim for Low-Life to be) but when I first listened to PC&L it was a kind of surprise, you could call it; a kind of "brave" effort to change something. They succeeded for as far as I can tell.

PC&L would be my first choice. Technique is good. Hopefully Get Ready will be considered influencial say 10 years from now. I know it woke me up, I hadn't listened to NO in several years.

Although Technique is my favourite, I consider PC&L to be the one that set the trend, coming out of JD's shadow.

PCL all the way for me from the artwork to the awesome Age of Consent. This album is the break from JD to something completely different yet at the same time familliar and equally majestic.

Technique is now my fav NO album

Technique is by far my favourite album and has influenced me personally more than any other music before or since.

However, in terms of "ahead of it's time" and subsequent influence, I have to recoginse & vote for PC&L.

PC&L still sounds fresh and new to me. I still compare it to everything I listen to today.

Even though Low-life is my personnal fave, I have to go with PC&L because it brought out their turn towards electronic music (in album form, Temptation and EGG did that as singles)

I think new order singles are more influential than their albums, surely.

I totally agree with this! I remember my cousin and me listening to some Belgian radiostation in 83 when we were exposed to "Blue Monday" for the first time, and we were totally blewn away by it... That sound! That rhythm! It came as a shock, since we were used to 'Movement' and 'Temptation' (which was a major leap forward too), but gradually it grew on us. Wish I could have chosen "1981-FEP 313-1982", but since that's not possible, it has to be "PC&L", there's no doubt about it. It still sounds majestically cool.

I agree with those voting for P,C&L. Reason ? see above...

All their albuns are very influential, as each one has a diferent story. We don't have how to vote in the most one, as all of then are extremely important.

More bands copied the PCL sound than any other NO album. PCL broke them free of the Earth. Sure, Temptation and EGG were breakthroughs but PCL put them past orbit--a polished and smooth sound full of confidence that only a great band could have created. I remember the first time I heard NO, it was the Beach. It truly blew my mind. NOTHING was remotely like it. And Hooky's bass, my GoD, that was outstanding.
