Whats your biggest new order regret (no pun intended!!), ie what release did you miss out on, what gig did u miss out on and for what reason?

Is there any rare item or bootleg you saw at a record fair on shop which you opted not to get for any reason and which has been bugging you ever since because.... well you havent seen it since!!

Two that spring to mind are, Brotherhood in a presentation cardboard cassette box type thing i saw at a second hand record shop about 10 years ago, it was only a fiver and i didnt get it for some crazy reason :nonono:

Also more recently i had the fabled Ostrich A Go Go in my hands at a record fair and didnt purchase that neither.... :nonono:

That certainly WASNT 'nothing i regret' :lol:

Biggest regret about a concert is not getting to Reading 89. I was 14, and can't remember why we never went, John and Lorraine must've been on holiday, other than that the return of the band at the Apollo in July 98.

I'll have to think about squandered purchases.

run2 12", perfect kiss silver 12", 1981-82 vinyl, TF 12", both Peel Sessions vinyl, ceremony cd, fine time cd, round&round cd. you may find some of these easy to find in UK or US. but down here is extreemly difficult. and i missed them because i was a little boy with no money to spend. :cry:

This one is easy to answer for me. I already said this in this forum, but it deserves repeating. I refused to attend the New Order gigs in my hometown in 1988. I was a very hardcore Joy Division fan and I used to think that "true Joy Division fans don't like New Order". :nonono:

You do stupid things when you are eighteen. :shrug:

I alway kinda regretted not participating in NOOL forums earlier, especially before my Trip to london to see NO. It looks like I missed out on a good opportunity to meet some fellow NOOLiners. It was really frustrating when I found out the place where I was staying was pratically down the street from Chris Nash. Oh well.

I also regretted that I didn't bring my copy of Music For Pleasure to get signed by Peter Hook when I went to see Monaco. I had no idea that I would get the chance to meet him.

Then there were several NO concert I could have went to, but I was either to young to go, or I didn't know about the show.

A short-lived one : passing up the opportunity in Camden market to buy Low Life two weeks and a day before it was released in the shops - only had a fiver on me and wanted The Perfect Kiss 12 inch (a day early too !) and some dinner :)

Not seeing them on the Technique tour when I was in high school. The clueless 'rents wouldn't let me, thought they were a bad influence or something. :nono: :rolleyes: :mad: :cry: :barf:

And it was the only chance I would have had to see another favorite, opener Throwing Muses, until I turned 21 since they usually play bars! Years later, I've seen Throwing Muses numerous times, and NO ONCE.

Big bad New Order, what a joke. Is Stevie a bad guy? :stephen:

Never having even heard of Joy Division or New Order until 1987 despite living in Manchester since 1956 and despite spending 5 years in the same class at school as Barney and Hooky. Now that is really, really fucking stupid. I beat myself up every day just thinking about ten years of waste. I sometimes wish I had never heard of them in the first place and then I wouldn't suffer this torment.

There's nothing I regret.....

They've given me so much over the years, it would be churlish of me to look back and think of bits that could have been fine tuned. Like life itself, there have been ups and downs, my 12 year live exile being the major down, and probably the release of PC & L being the major up.

unquestionably it would be not getting (into) them earlier

friend of mine played me low life when it came out but wasnt interested in giving it proper attention (but thought the design was brilliant)

since Ive got into them then i suppose missing the move festival cos of funds & not hearing about the apollo gig are the big regrets.

of purchases - the factory sample was £20 at reddingtons rare records or some other similar shop in birmingham in my student days & didnt get it

New Order a BAD INFLUENCE!?!? :lol: wow thats a first!!! My parents never went that far, in fact i think they were quite happy me liking the band as they came across as quite a "sensible" band in their eyes!! haha!

Not seeing them when i had a ticket a few years back!Some festival that the venue was switched and left it too late to arrange transport.As for the records...buy buy buy but there are HUNDREDS i could have got and didn't.Should have bought 'em for you lot! :nod: NO REGRETS..it called LIFE! :jawdrop: :D

The Manchester Move festival - had a ticket and everything but had been out the night before and was too 'tired' to go it was a very hot day as I recall - still made it to the Trafford Centre though I'll always regret that day

Can't really say I regret anything. Being a mere whippersnapper of 22, I was too young to see 'em pre-reunion, and I can hardly blame myself for when I was born. Played with the idea of going to the Move festival last year but in the end didn't...I really should have, but c'est la vie.

But don't talk to me about missing the Roxy Music tour in 2001... :cry:

Biggest NO regret?

Not realising earlier that I could walk people into the sold out USA '89 shows and charge them $50 a time. Them laminate passes could have made Kim and I a small fortune although it did fund our subsequent six month stay in the Sheraton Yankee Trader in Fort Lauderdale! DM

Regrets, I've had a few....

I haven't seen them live since Ally Pally gig in 1998. I really should have gone on the Get Ready tour. But I've seen them play in Manchester, Birmingham and London over the years and this time I wanted to do something different - i.e. see them abroad. My mate, whose also a big NO fan had recently moved to Amsterdam so we thought they're bound to play there later on the tour (given all the Amsterdam gigs they've done in the past). Big mistake, never happened. Aw, bugger.

Second biggest regret, not seeing them at Reading 98. Went on holiday with friends in Nice, France instead. Rented villa, got burgled, miserable 7 days of stress and arguing afterwards. Good job they played Ally Pally 4 months later so I could get my fix.

1st Regret: Not being old enough to have seen Joy Division. Some of my mates have & never let me forget it.

2nd: Relying on a (former) mate to sort me for the GMex concerts 88/89. He worked in town next to the box office, I was a poor student. He f**cked up & I had to wait 10 years...

3rd: Had the Blue Monday VCD in my hand c.1990 but decided not to buy it as I had the 12" & CDS and I didn't have a VCD player. D'oh!

Finally: Lurking on these boards for too long before joining in. There are some quality forumistas in here.

But then again, I've done alright really, so no complaints. ;)

Seeing Sordide Sentimentale version of Atmosphere and Dead Souls at a record fair and not buying it, though I think it was probably a copy.
Not having the stickers with FAC2!
Gigs I should have gone to but didn't - Brixton Academy (the one on the video), Royal Albert Hall, Woolwich Coronet.
Not going down the front at gigs as much as I should have done
Not seeing them in foreign climes (I don't think Wales counts!)
Not having the ability to communicate with other fans and get information this easily when I first started taking an interest.

One thing I probably don't regret is not talking to them on the very rare opportunities I've had - reduced view of heroes and all that!

We met their tour manager in the US, and they were supposed to play the Paradiso, same time as they played Paris, Berlin, etc. But for some reason the Paradiso gig never went ahead, and they played Stockholm instead. Shame that, but I think the Paradiso's probably too small for 'em now anyways.

A few regrets: Haven't seen them live for far too long, gig companions are getting hard to come by, thankfully my new girlfriend, a fellow NOOL member, is a huge fan so that will be rectified should they ever get on tour again.

I deferred buying the green covered Atmosphere in 1984/5 as I already had the white cover and have never seen it since.

Never even saw the BM Cd Video and I have the means to play it.

I actually had an arrangement with a friend of mine who went to school in Amsterdam, a girl who had gone to school with her would have bought us tickets and we'd have stayed there for a week ! When that fell through, I tried to get tickets for the German concerts, but a mate who has a mate who runs an agency for travelling to concerts said that he couldn't get tickets through the Internet, he usually does Graz, Budapest and Milan, so that fell through as well. Going to gigs in England is complicated due to visa problems. And the last time they played before 1998, I was just too young. So my biggest regret would obviously be never seeing them live. There can always be an another time to buy a record, but live experiences don't repeat (and they're not getting any younger). I'm hoping to see them this summer though. Allways an optimist.

Here's a different kind of Regret, kinda more like feeling sorry for masel. I'm sure loads of you remember Reading 93, well I bought the barcode t-shirt, and basically always had it on down the pub on a Friday night, a few months later I saw another one on the record stall up the town and bought another one, so I always had a spare one in case of emergencies (like ruining one with snakebite black :lol: ) Anyway, anyway, after a while I couldn't find them anywhere, it so happened that there were washing line thieves on the prowl at that time, and the bastards not only got the 2 barcode t-shirts, but also an Andre Aggassi whit Nike T-shirt an all :cry: Honestly, the barcode t-shirt was my pride and joy, and I've never been able to get my hands on one since.....If anyone knows where I could find a new one....get in touch please Record wise, I've only made a coupl of faux pas' . The True Faith remix 12" that had the White cover and multi-coloured leaves should have been bought, but I decided to get it the week after, and the bugger had been sold.

that sucks. my dad drove my friend and me two hours there and two hours back to see them in 1989, when i was a wee 14-year-old. go, dad.

my big regret, however, is giving my technique tour t-shirt to the salvation army a while back. i pine for it now.
