yes, i will. i'm curious to hear New Order's cover, but most of all - it's for a good cause.

Since it may not turn up anywhere else, unless they stick it on their next single - due October 2023 - as a B-side, then I suppose I will be buying it. And who knows, some of the other stuff on it might be alright too.

I bought Help and Warchild, but this one... I know it's for a (rather good) cause, but...

There are a few offkey artists and a few good artists, essentially i'd buy for the NewOrder track (little drip feed fix until the next album ;) ) although its all for a good cause which is a bonus :)

I will definitely buy it. Curious to see how they cover the song. It is also for a good cause.

As announced last week, Spiritualized are contributing a new track, Hold On to the forthcoming Warchild album Hope, which is released on April 21st with funds going to help child victims of the war in Iraq.

Amongst the well-intentioned but occasionally over-worthy quotes which the contributing artists have made, Jason's actually stands out nicely...

"Making music to donate to War Child to raise money for the children we are dropping bombs on. Beautiful. Bless us all."

Since the album has only been mastered very recently, we don't have a copy yet - but as soon as we do, we'll get a clip of Hold On up here.

All the acts are giving their services for free, while London Records has agreed to produce and distribute the album without taking a profit. Hope was recorded around the world in 25 days. The running order is below; we're sure you can ignore Ronan Keating's crime against music seeing as it's a very good cause...

1. Travis, who have recorded a new song called The Beautiful Occupation.

2. Avril Lavigne, who has contributed a version of Bob Dylan's Knockin' on Heaven's Door. Avril recorded the song in London, just before her final show at the Brixton Academy last week .

3. Sir Paul McCartney with a new version of Calico Skies, one of the top tunes from his 2000 album, Flaming Pie. Recorded live during the rehearsals for his current tour.

4. David Bowie with a new remix of Everyone Says Hi, from his much-acclaimed 2002 album Heathen.

5. George Michael, who has covered Don McLean's 1971 protest song, The Grave.

6. Ronan Keating with Elvis' 1969 megahit, In The Ghetto. Is that the sound of The King turning in his grave we can hear...?

7. Blue's Lee Ryan, who makes a one off solo outing especially for War Child with a self penned song called Stand Up As People. Lucky us.

8. Beverley Knight, who has updated Stevie Wonder's Love's In Need Of Love Today, one of the classic songs from his 1976 album Songs in the Key of Life.

9. Moby, with a new song called Nearer.

10. New Order with an update of reggae Jimmy Cliff's 1970 single Vietnam - a tune once described by Bob Dylan as the "best protest song" he had ever heard.

11. Basement Jaxx and the Jamaican dancehall legend Yellowman with a new song called Love Is The Answer.

12. Spiritualized with Hold On.

13. The Charlatans, who have recorded Curtis Mayfield's impassioned 1972 single, We Got To Have Peace.

14. Beth Orton, who has covered The 5 Stairsteps' soul classic O-O-H Child, a U.S. Top 10 hit in 1970.

15. The excellend Tom McRae with a brand-new composition called Border Song.

16. Billy Bragg with a newly-written song called The Wolf Covers Its Tracks.

17. Yusuf Islam - the artist formerly known as Cat Stevens - with a new version of his 1971 classic, Peace Train. Recorded in Johannesburg with the South African choir, Incwenga, this is Yusuf's first English-language music release in 25 years...

Since it has Avril, I recon me and my sis will each be buying our own copies of the same album, but for much different musical reasons. :D But we'll have the same view of the general good of buying it too

Yes I will. But i'm not very interested in the rest of the album. Only in Bowie, Beth Orton and New Order, of course.

Oh, I'll probably buy it, but Avril makes me blanch. She didn't know who the Sex Pistols were (hard to believe for such a "punk" ), so I doubt that she knows she's singing a Dylan song.

If it's sold at low (very low) price, may I make an effort...

will definitely buy it especially with new stuff from billy bragg & the charlatans on it too
