Jaded Mancs?

After last nights awesome display, I was thinking about the times I've seen the band on their home turf, and the atmosphere has been lacking compared to other shows. The only theory I can come up with is that in Manchester they're playing in front of plenty of old Manc cynics with a "seen it all before" attitude, or is this just coincidence? I enjoyed the Nynex and Apollo shows, but the crowd at both seemed a bit stand-offish. Any thoughts, or am I just a moody git when I've been to Mancland?

BTW, spoke to a chap last night (with VERY excitable girlfriend) for whom Brixton was his 30th N.O. gig. Suitably impressed, I asked him for his best ever show: he reckoned the '84 Festival Hall gig. I imagine this has been covered before, but for the veterans, which is the ultimate NO show??

Said fella was wide-eyed with joy after last nights gig, which I think says something about the quality of the performance.

For me the ultimate show was Birmingham Tower Ballroom 2/10/86, which was as near to being perfect I can remember. I have an excellent tape recording of it as well if anyone is interested in a copy ! I must admit that Manchester gigs seem different to a lot of places, there is a different attitude both on and off stage. Belgian and French shows have always been good though, especially the Belgian ones.
