Here to Stay-close to a classic now (I know it's not on the album but nevertheless) Vicious Streak/ Primitive Notion-both very good Turn My Way-I like it a lot, but it would have been better withiot Billy 60 mph Close Range Crystal Someone Like You-a no-go because of the female backing vocals RTS-but you can't deny it has some sort of energy Slow Jam-sucks except for the mentioning of beer Run Wild-as an actually religious person I think it's superficial and not very meaningful

The B-sides: Sabotage is very good Behind Closed Doors is OK apart for the lyrics Player in the League is very good except it's about a football club (a friend of mine was very dissapointed when I pointed that fact to him. He thought it was a love song) Such a Good Thing would actually be GREAT except it's about the world cup and has such silly and lyrics, surely not written for real football supporters, they remind me of middle-aged women in my laboratory who were suddenly all folowing footbal at the world cup and giving the stupidest possible commentaries, 45th minute and the head of the Reservoir Fluids department says "and those wearing red socks, are they Ecuador ?". I think Barney has been having a problem with his attempts at writing football lyrics recently.

I loved Get Ready when it was released, but I've noticed that I play it less and less as the time goes by, and revert to the old favourites instead. It's at no 5 below Technique and PC&L and Low-life and Brotherhood now.Movement in my opinion was ruined by the production, and Republic was a terrible dissapointment. But it's so hard to overtake any of those albums now, especcially because I have an emotional connection to them from my youth that I can never have to a newer album (or who knows, maybe I'll speak differently at 40). So it's a good album, but it lacks that bit of extra special that NO have had at their prime.

No, you'll still feel the same, trust me (although I DO like Movement as well).

Lacking a CD player in my Jag, I recently found a cassette with Get Reday on one side, Brutal, BCD and a Crystal remix plus some Rest of New Order. I left Chicago at midnight to make a 4 hour journey home and really was glad I had that tape, played at full volume, skipping the Rest Of NO tracks. Crystal is still a very powerful song, perhaps the epitome of a NO song. I luv GR even if SLY is on it (but I am getting used to it).

I call the Barney Mix of Close Range, the version that was played on the BBC Sessons and all the concerts. It kinda sounds like he is on drugs. And since the song is about drugs, it works perfect.

The rumour is Barney and Steve Osborne got into a big yelling match over the song. And Peter said he had to break them up. But since they were paying Steve to produce the Cd, they went with his version of the song. it was even planned to be the 4th single of the cd, which never came about. But Barney still likes his vision of the song, so he plays it his way at the concerts. The pre-mix version is kinda like it, but not finished.

LowLife/Technique/Republic/Get Ready - fave NO albums in no particular order.

I consider BCD as part of the Get Ready album since I only have the album as a Jap issue and the song is on it. I really love all the songs on Get Ready!!!! You shoulda seen me bouncing around my cube at work every time I played it. SO...all of Get Ready and Here to Stay, because it's such a brilliant song.

Interesting and good points, Nic. Glad to see we agree on Turn My Way, it seems almost to be a neglected track on GR, what with all the singles getting the attention, and stuff like Rock The Shack getting generally panned. It is IMHO a magnificent change of pace, with humour too.

i like it more now that when it came out as far as rock the shack i absolutley love it now go bobbie
