name that instrumental

Hello all:

A long time ago I downloaded a New Order song that was labeled as "Behind Closed Doors," except that it wasn't really that song. It was actually a 3:55 min. long instrumental that sounds like it was quite early in their career, probably around the time of PCL. I'm guessing it's a b-side of some kind, so I was wondering if anyone could tell me the name of it.

The first 4 seconds are some sort of quick-pulsing synth, then the drums and bass come in together at the 4 sec. mark; 16 or 17 sec. into the song a sustained synth drone comes in (which sounds suspiciously like the same synth drone used in Blue Monday or one of its variations), then the guitar finally comes in at the 29 sec. point.

Can anyone help me on this one? I feel dumb for not knowing the name of this song for so long. Thanks.

Goddammit....now I'm really confused. I did find that backing track of the song 'Naked' by the Flir--but instead of it being the instrumental I'm trying to find the name of, it was the same track that I originally downloaded under the label "Player in the League." Looks like I was quite taken in be that one.....now I know why that song always sounded a bit alien to be New Order. So while I'm trying to find the real copy of Player in the League, I'm still lost as to the name of that original instrumental I was wondering about. Oh well, the mystery continues....

Try buying the records - they usually have the right tracks on, unless you are a fan of Mesh !!

that's funny because i WAS a fan of Mesh off Substance....that is, until i found out it was called Cries and Whispers, and then i decided the song was total crap.

Is there a difference between Mesh and Cries & Whispers? I didn't know this...

Oh, and by the way, I've been told that Love Vigilantes was not on Retro. Can anybody confirm this?

Mesh isn´t in substance disc 2 but in the canadian factus 8 81-82.And cries & whispers is in substance disc 2.

What about that song Too Late anyhow? Why doesn't it show up anywhere except that one Peel session. I thought it was great.
