Brixton 12/10 - classics re-introduced.

Well, sort of re-introduced. Arthur Baker gave us "EVERYTHING's GONE GREEN" and "THIEVES LIKE US" (we were all on our mobiles phoning lads who couldn't be there to con them into thinking the band were actually playing the tracks!).

And then, it seems Hooky might've been reading Tim Jauncey's original plea - he gave us a solo rendition of "AGE OF CONSENT" at the end of the set. Stirring stuff. Lasted about 45 secs. And then gave us the intro to "DREAMS NEVER END" at the close of the the encore. Again, maybe another 45 secs. He was then behind the bass amps and out of sight playing a slow mournful bassline which I think was just the main bit of DNE slowed down, though others were trying to guess if it was a dragged out bassline off "LEAVE ME ALONE" or maybe "LONESOME TONIGHT". Either way, he's a Little Show Off.

As for the rest of the set: New Order by Numbers again, I'm afraid. Blimey, they must be bored of this by now.

Fans in this neck of the woods can only hope they're not too burnt out by the time they arrive in Jan/Feb.. Still a fair few gigs between now and then. Love to see them start mixing the playlists up a little to keep them keen.

BTW Jarvis, can we expect to see your lanky white frame gracing our shores and instigating our rucks on the Big Day Out tour? You could conceivably set a new record for watching the Order on multiple continents...

Oops! sorry about the ballsup with my last message. Just wanted to say how really disappointed I was with last night - whoever was doing the sound should be shot. I think they really need GG back - where were the crisp electronics apart from BLT ? 'Touched' was dreadful.

Hooky playing the bassline to Age of Consent just rubbed it in - play the bloody song !!

Love Will Tear Us Apart was like a terrace knees-up rather than the fractured thing of beauty it is

I could go on....

I know this sounds really precious but the memories of 'Perfect Kiss' Liverpool 1986 and 'Love Vigilantes' Wolverhampton '86 were almost wiped out last night. Had to put Substance b-sides on today to remind myself.

I got no complaints about the 12th. I fully have to disagree with you, Ken. Maybe this should be called Dry 201 Moaning Pub?

The 12th was perfect! Nothing wrong with that. I enjoyed it from the beginning until the end!!

And picture this: two Dutch people, just been in contact via this site last week, by coincidence standing next to each other in the front row!! Mario, nice meeting you and see you in Cologne!
