The Best of New Order (1994) A Non-New Order Fan's View

I convinced a friend of mine to get a CD from New Order, by accident he got this one instead of Substance....Heres how he rated each song on the album

REVIEW Let's Go is pretty catchy which is a plus, but seems a bit bland and poppy...I'll stick it with a 6/10

Dreams Never End is pretty good, I think it ends a little abruptly, but 7/10 regardless

Age of Consent definitely has the best music so far on this cd, awesome synth parts in the middle and towards the end...it gets 9/10

Love Vigilantes is pretty average, but I like the way it ends so I'll give it a 7/10

True Faith is very catchy and the singer is awesome in this song...gets 9/10

BLT isn't quite as good as the better songs, but still I love the 30 second musical part around 2:30-3:00 in the song...gets 8/10

1963 doesnt really impress me musically until the end, and it's one of the more poppy songs, still catchiness saves it...6/10

Fine Time: yeah this is pure dance basically with stupid vocal effects, 3/10

Vanishing Point is definitely one of the better dance songs I have heard, but it still doesnt impress me too much, 6/10

Run has the best guitar parts I have heard so far, it's catchy, and is now my 3rd favorite on this cd so far...9/10

Round and Round is like a mix of the dancey style and the main synth pop styles, pretty catchy as well...I'll give it a 7/10

Regret has everything going for it, great melody, great vocals, flat out great beat, nice guitar part that was so good it's on a commercial, best NO song PERIOD, 10/10

World is very nice techno style music, I'm giving it a 8/10 and it rivals BLT for top 5

Ruined for a Day is simply just an average song, it doesnt really go anywhere, gets 5/10 for being average

Touched by the Hand of God follows in the footsteps of the previous song, simply average and kinda boring, another 5/10

I dont know if it's just been years since I heard Blue Monday or if the remix doesn’t do it any justice, but I cant really get into this song that much at all right now, the chorus and the ending save it a bit, but I still feel it's a 6/10

Well I actually told him Substance was the better CD to get, but he got this one because it was cheapest.

But he also told me he would buy Substance sometime. Does that seem like the right second CD to purchase considering he liked a few NO songs A LOT on The Best of New Order?

Out of all the reviews I found this one to be the most suprising. I think 1963 is a pretty solid song and would appeal almost as much as the best few songs on THE BEST OF CD.

Tell em to get a S CLUB CD cos they don't UNDERSTAND the ORDER!
