Gillian Gilbert, I've noticed puts some real diversity in vocals. She can come off as quite eerie ( her muttering at the end of "Doubts Even Here" and then seem like a bowl of sunshine (in her side project "Tasty Fish"). I keep hearing from interviewers and reporters in various news prints over the years how creepy and stoic she is in comparison to the others, then I always see her and the rest of the band laughing and playing around backstage in photos. Wierd lady...

She comes across both in interviews and onstage as a very shy person, who strikes me as being a little awkward in the glare of publicity.
However, some journalists and commentators have confused her quietness with nonchalance - I don't think she's nonchalant at all : in fact very much the opposite. She cares passionately about the music, and her part in the New Order sound.
I wouldn't pay too much attention to the gothic mantra in Doubts Even Here. Clearly, Gill has a great voice which is a very sweet sound indeed (although the Other Two lyrics are just a tad too girly-wirly!).
It's kind of a shame that she lets Steve, Barney and Hooky do the chatting, because I think if interviewers got into a 30 minute chat with her, and kept the camera rolling, she'd open up a lot (certainly some magazine interviews, and even the Rock of Europe, where it's just her and Steve being asked the questions, sees her coming out of her shell a lot).
There's been sneak previews (eg New Order Story sees her opening up quite a bit in that garden, and the Rapido interview sees her very modestly accepting praise that she did a lot for women picking up guitars in the 1980s/1990s rather than just singing in bands) and it's something I would have liked to have seen more of.
One thing's for sure - she laughs a lot, and she has a very nice giggle ;)
Mind you, after one of our fellow NOOLers saw her in B&Q (and chose not to approach her, which I think is right and proper), it's nice to know that our favourite band members are just like you and me :) Except they're slightly richer - or maybe not, in the case of New Order

She certainly looks shy in the 316 interview. It's funny I had a dream about meeting Gillian last night...it was quite "intriguing"

I was listing to an old cd here and barney was playing guitar in run run run with echo & the bunnymen.
McCulloch did join NO on stage at GMex July 1986 and sung Ceremony. But Nick Cave was nowhere to be seen
Bloody hell Clayts that's one to imagine isn't it, Nick Cave and Barney? Let's do a mix of And No More Shall We Part vs True Faith.....
