What has all this gotta do with Journey? Unless it's a subliminal reference to Hooky's much missed MULLET!!

Nah, just thought it'd be a funny title, but while we're on the subject, Hooky's mullet would be too out of place. I'm thinking perhaps Hooky should go rapper and get his hair in braids, perhaps even into an afro. Hmm?

To be honest, I've only ever come across Journey whilst I was looking for joy division stuff; as things are usually in alphabetical order. they had some rather cool album sleeves from what i can remember 
I remember a friend of mine back in high school was shocked when I said I didn't like Journey. He seemed taken aback by it. We haven't spoken since, not that I liked the guy. He was a Journey fan, for God's sake!

Anorak time.....New Order were supported in April 85 at Doncaster Rotters and November 85 at Hemel Hempstead Pavilion by a South London band called The Beloved, who had just changed their name from "The Journey Through" because they didn't want to be associated with "American wankers" (quote from Beloved drummer at the time).
Pop-pickers will of course know that they changed style from being a New Order soundalike band with a six-string bass and two good indie singles (on the magnificent Flim Flam label) to being cheesy pop "Hello" then ambient trance wishy-washy gubbins "It's Alright Now" that sent you to sleep before you even pressed "Play". Jon Marsh was a Countdown champion and successful DJ/producer. Steve Waddington has a Maths degree from Cambridge. Vince Hilaire had an afro so cheesy it still makes me laugh now.
Wasn't Vince Hillaire a professional footballer? He played for that 'orrible sarf lundun club.
Indeed he was, played for quite a few teams over the years, ending his career down the road from you at Waterlooville along with Billy Gilbert, another ex-Palace nobody :)
Billy Gilbert, christ I'd forgotten about him. I have somehow managed to end up with free admission to Havant and Waterlooville's FA cup tie with Barnet. Not that I'm complaining, BHA vs Barnet had become something of a regular away trip for me over the last few seasons, I've almost developed a soft spot for them.
Bah - we have to go to Belper Town for our FA Cup tie, no such luck as a decent ground or anything...... 
Indeed, having done Barnstaple away and St.Blazey away in the last two rounds, I was at least hoping for an away tie in London. Home matches are 250 miles round trip :)

I remember him scoring a classic for Stoke against Wigan though in one of Mick Mills' last games. I was working at the Victoria Ground in those days as one of those "JJs" :)

Lived in Stoke for five years late 80s early 90s, took up temp. res. on Boothen for a while when I wasn't playing at Leek or Castle Town. Entire highlight of time there was Pixies at Hanley Victoria Hall Oct 90.

A peak-period show. Quite why they came to play in the Potteries is still beyond me, but I'm bloody glad they did.

I was there - twasn't that good from what I can remember - got the tape somewhere. Nothing could have been as good as the night before though, when they opened with LWTUA for the first time ever.

Alas no - I was only 13 myself - my sister-in-law went and said they were rubbish - however, she was a big Magazine fan so her opinion doesn't count.
I certainly think it's time they returned to Stoke - how about the Brit ?!
