Can i just point out, that since August I have been called a sentimental old tart on regular occasions for stating that i love the song Run Wild. Now, it seems I'm not alone...

I'll let ya know how I feel about it when I've had a chance to hear it tomorrow. Until then, I cannot speak on this matter of Run Wild...

Have to admit that though I liked the song from the beginning, I was put off adding it to my regular acoustic set by the Jesus bit. Now I know why it's there, I'll play it.

Other New Order I do acoustic is only Regret and As It Is When It Was, though I did Lets Go once.

Well, I've loved Run Wild since day one, Liv. And my new signature is a testimony to that love.

And another thing, mentioning Jesus is hardly a new thing for the Order is it? How many songs have religious references in it? Temptaion (A heaven, a gateway) Touched by the hand of God Ceremony (heaven knows its got to be this time) True faith

In the audio files, there's a long radio interview, first with Steve and then Barney, where Barney dismisses any spirituality in his lyrics. Nevertheless God and his minions pop up a lot in JD/NO. Just go back to something like Wilderness and you'll see it's not just Barney that pops in the occassinal reference.

True, but my problem with playing it before was that I didn't want to play a twee sounding acoustic song with Jesus lyrics in, for fear of sounding like a bible basher. Now I understand their context, I'm more likely to play it this Thursday at my next gig, segueing it into Regret, probably.

Closer has religious imagery on the cover for Pete's sake, so any suggestion that Barney started their use of such themes is open for discussion. Decades talks about Ian perhaps forseeing his descent into hell, it has a nice Dante-esque hint to it.

Has anyone actually said that Barney started the use of religious themes in JD/NO lyrics ? Ian was well known for his religious imagery (and also for cutting up bibles !).

I don't think so, just felt like showing off my inte...inte....what's the word? Oh well.

I remember reading that, first off the Old Echoes website, then in TFAD. Very sacreligous of Ian, wonder if Marilyn Manson got his idea to tear up a Bible onstage from that.
