What do you wake up to?

No, I meant music...

I generally don't use an alarm, because, well, it's annoying. I prefer to wake up to whatever music I'm in the mood for. Right now, it's Get Ready (yes, all of it, so I guess I'm not actually "getting ready," unless it's getting ready to get up after I listen...), followed by PLC (gets me up & moving). When I finally get tired of these two...who knows what's next? Rumor has it there's a 3rd CD lurking in the player, by some band that isn't NO...but I got tired of it after a few months...

whatever's in my dinky little stereo from the night before because I'm too braindead in the morning to expend the energy to change the CD. this means it's usually something by The Cure, often something I go to sleep to like Faith or Disintegration.

Usually one of my cats chattering at me, REALLY loud purring in my ear, a cat fight, or one of the cats sitting next to head staring at me.

This morning I felt the Big Ball o' Hair laying next to my leg. He's a very fluffy kitty.

At the moment the songs i wake up to (after having a piss of course) are:

1. Peter Gabriel - "I Have The Touch"
2. The Go-Betweens - "Five Words
3. The Blue Nile - "Stay"
4. Korn - "Here To Stay" (not a cover of the newOrder song) This will change when i get sick of these songs.

I have been listening to Echo & the Bunnymen a lot these days.

A classic rock station (loud if I have to get up early, not so loud when I can sleep a while)

According to one of my friends, this means your cat is waiting for you to die so it can eat your eyeballs. He says you can always tell if a dead person owned a cat because when they find the body of someone who died in bed, their eyes will be missing. So let this be a reminder to you when you wake up and your cat is looking into your face....just waiting. :D

I used to set my alarm/radio to a local rock station, but that never worked, since the music never waked me up. Now I'm waking up to an alarm, and that barely gets me up. New Order probably wouldn't get me up, since I'm a really heavy sleeper. I;ve managed to fall asleep 4 times on a subway, and I fell asleep during the Exorcist when I was watching it withmy sister a few years ago. That actually freaked her out as much as the movie, since I look like I'm dead when I sleep. :dead: I suppose I wouldn't mind waking up to "Why Can't I be you?" by the Cure or "Cherub Rock" by Smashing Pumpkins. Something loud that will catch my attention and make me not fall asleep again - which happens quite frequently.

LOL that's funny!!!! Maybe eyeballs are tasty??? But really...they do that when they're hungry or when they've decided that I've stayed in bed too long.

Since the local "alternative" station changed its format, I switched the station to a really horrid soft-rock one, where they play cheesy songs like Mike And The Mechanics, "The Lady In Red", and that gawdawful "Captain Of Her Heart" song; listening to that gets me right outta bed to turn it off!

I wake up every morning to the delightful sound of my Russian neighbour upstairs dropping the kids off at the pool.

MY wife and kids wake me up. I have another hour or so to try to sleep some more. But I ask one of them to turn my radio on so I can listen to NPR. Once in my car I listen to either the radio or a tape. Right now I have JD's BBC recordings in my Jag, NO live in my truck and Happy Monday's live in my saloon. Nothing scares people more than pulling up next to my Jag with The Sound of Music cranking (a/c is dead).

speaking of waking up, the other night i was rudely awoken from a dream in which myself, Barney, Steve, and Hooky were all rescued from a desert island by a passing warship that became a bus full of Catholic schoolgirls as we swam out and were pulled aboard. Hooky naturally went right to work hitting on the womens, and Barney tried somewhat pathetically to make a move, but Steve kinda hung back (i wonder why!). i wish it would've played out longer...but on second thought, with them lecherous old men flirting with the younguns, maybe not!

No music for me....I get woke up but the alarm buzzing, and my dog doing the "I got to pee" dance over me....and it is always in the middle of a good dream...never fails!

I wake up to "ode to joy" played on my cell phone's alarm its getting really annoying, so like in Clockwork orange now when i hear it i get violently Ill

I actually had a strange New Order dream a while ago, as well. Some how, in this dream, I managed to get over to England, find Manchester without a map, and break into the house I assumed was Barney's. Somehow, in the basement of his house with was covered in dust and dirty cobwebs, I found an old photo album of pictures of him from his youth. And, in addition to that, a tape of unreleased NO songs. However, after finding a stereo in the basement, I played the tape. It sounded like average new order - lots of synths, bass - and barney was singing in tune at the beginning of the tape. Later, or within minutes, Barney's vocals became badly - and I do mean badly - out of tune, as if he suddenly became demented during the recording process. Perhaps that's why he wasn't in the house when I started climbing the flights of stairs in his house. But, somewhere in the process of climbing, I woke up.

Not all of the covers are to my liking, but Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds do a rather hilarious deconstructed version of Tower Of Song, with a different style of music for each verse and chorus. Ol' Leonard himself likes Nick's approach to that one, cause some of the other's takes are a bit too reverential. Let me know if you can't find this album..........
