survey vs. polls?

Perhaps instead of a million little polls about Best/Worst NO/JD Song/Album/etc. that don't get many responses, NOOL should do a massive survey along the lines of what the Chain of Flowers website did for The Cure? Just do the same sort of thing with the topics, and post it in the News section that the survey is going on, and then tabulate all the votes. Definitive NO/JD poll. tell me it wouldn't be easier.
