Get Ready Demo's

Anybody know much about these?

I downloaded a couple of tracks off p2p and was surprised at how they vary quite differently from the released versions.

You mean the advance promo, or premix or whatever people call it?

They're all subtly different, but the main standout differences are Someone Like You, Close Range and Run Wild. Crystal has a nice bass solo that somehow never made the final cut.

Best thing about that disc is the total absence of Rock The Shack!

Can offer you a CD of the whole thing if you're tired of downloading, Don.

Donald, around the time of release there were plenty of these demonstrations kicking about the world. I'm not a big downkey bloke so they slipped the internet before I worked out I should grab them - figured they would be around always.

Somebody must have sniffed them onto a diskette? ... seem to recall just about all songs were on a promo CD to muster interest in the band ... I would love to own these.

I'm a big demo man, as you say, sometimes they are wildly different and as good as the final produce (to put alongside).

Anyone willing to burn plaggy please reveal yourselves ...

... what about trying someone like Blue? - he usually has such things ... just a guess like.

What about Al Jarvis?

Hunts, im frankly surprised that you have not furnished your collection with these items as of yet, certainly worth a listen if your a fan i'd say :)

Al, yes from the limited tracks i have heard there is not a vast amount of difference between the versions, although the slightest musical/vocal shift away from the released versions is always of some interest. Close Range was distinguishably different even down to a few chorus changes if i recall correctly...

I wanted to listen (after so much time) to the new, New Order material, very much new ... so I abandoned downloading and robbing on the fly. I wanted it fresh baby, oh yeah, oh yeah. The only snippit I heard before launch day (after a mate told me to turn on the radio 'now') was a horrible re-mix broadcast on Radio One of Crystal ... 'Honey, Money' to a 4/4 beat nearly had me in tears ... as usual, when the final product came through all became clear. It was beautiful baby oh yeah ... oh yeah.

So by the time I wanted the variation they'd vanished! ... the moral of the tale is that I missed the initial pre-demos and thus have been docked 3 vital fan status points and quite frankly, been made to look like a cad.

So far it sounds real good, even if the changes are subtle, lack of Rock the Shack is and perhaps I'll like Close Range this time ?!? Would be interesting to hear Someone like You as well, 'cos that's my favourite track on Get Ready.

I've never been quick enough to get my hands on things like that, and not fussed either because I never believed there would be such a difference anyway. Excuse the ignorance ! I now have a demo of Let's go (courtesy of Rocket Mick) which is so unbelievably different from the one on Retro, it's unreal. From now on I will be trying to get gems like this...

With the advent of the impending GR Demo's from Bluey, I feel inspired to track down any missing links.

I can't think of any, but I would appreciate a track listing to pick through.

HIBBY..i did not know this was you..BLACKTHORN.Why the change.The answer is no....i was just waiting for a COMPLETE CD-R with them on for EASE.Then i had trouble with the EX and all recording STOPPED. Cheers Rocket Mick

got it today CHEERS! I have to say I'm very partial to this version of Someone like You, but I still don't like Close Range, to be honest it's the lyrics more than anything, might be alright as an instrumental ... Best surprise of all was the inclusion of Sabotage, which I hadn't heard in ages because the dvd I've got it on is buggered. Still don't understand why they left this out when the final selection was made... Thanks again

p.s. haven't got anything JD/NO that you won't already have but maybe you're on the look out for something else that I might have...let me know. Same goes for Rocket Mick. Least I can do to show my gratitude
