More importantly, anyone worked out why people are calling it 'Ambient' or 'Soundtrack', when in actual fact the CD lists the track's title as 'The Peter Saville Show Soundtrack'?

The voice is heard several times when listened to via HEADPHONES.At one point someone is speaking on an answering machine asking for PETER.Another... PETER SAVILLE's name is mentioned.This track is pure class and reminds me of several tracks in particular LAKE CONSTANCE by MIKE OLDFIELD in mood,with a touch of BOWIE/ENO thrown in.A bass sound is truly great and at aprox 11 mins this really kicks arse.The sound of LOVE WILL TEAR US APART is there for me,probably different for everyone.But please don't think this is a THROWAWAY track.I am impressed a lot and these days this old bugger is a lot harder to PLEASE.Play loud whilst sunbathing sipping cold 
and you will be in PARADISE.

i like it a lot. it sounded great in the gallery. i cranked it up today and it sounded great.

Yeah, great to stick on the discman while sitting in my sunny back garden, drinking a beer and flicking through 'Designed By Peter Saville'.
Lots of fancy keyboard arpeggios and programming going on - wonder how long it took them to record and mix it? Wonder if Phil Cunningham had much to do with it as well?
I'm sure you hear a sampled Hooky interview in there somewhere too... Very impressive: glad they can still experiment when the need arises!

Christ, it goes on a bit, doesn't it? I'm only 10mins in and can feel myself nodding off already. Then again, Wilson did always claim New Order were like Pink Floyd, didn't he? Then where on earth's the light show?!
What's the piano riff around the 3min mark? It's the one thing I did remember from the exhibition. Sounds like a breakdown from a v.well known dance track, or maybe a film score, but can't quite place it. Sounds totally ripped off by the Order, mind.

Mine was still going on after about 28 mins 30 secs when I had to pop out to meet a mate on Sat night!
Thought it was pretty good if a little meandering. Hopefully they will use a bit more programming and keyboards in the next album release.
Though, I've just been re-aquainting myself with the 12" of Cool As Ice by 52nd Street. What a quality song, some great programmed basslines in that.
The track is 30 minutes and 13 seconds long.

And some people found the full version of Elegia too long!!!
But anyway -- this is ambiance music, period. Strangely, the only other band that I know of who did a similar thing in the past is... The Cure, who, in 1981 I think (around the Faith album period), wrote a 25 minutes instrumental track which the New Order one reminds me a lot.
Can't remember the name, though...

26 mins into my 1st listen & its really good. Uploaded it to my PC, so I'll take the CD & plonk it in the car for a nice drive later.
The idea of a 585/Elegia/Ambient CDR isn't bad actually...

popped it on when getting ready for work this am & listened out for piano - but thought you meant the one right at the start which is pretty reminiscent of faithless imho.
I liked it, listened to it last night, essential chill out music. Cheers for that Rocket, put the cash on me tab......

i listened to it all they way through and i like it a lot! how can anyone say that its boring music? this is pure ambiance at its best! reminds me of an early oakenfold/global undercground cd. at least we"ve got something to listen to till the next album,WHENEVER that may be ! HOW TO LISTEN TO IT? then look at my addition to my own post"ambient they"re here" for my suggestion. regards steve smith :)
