New Order live shows

Hi, I know its probably been asked a million times (accept my appologies now)but how does one get into having live shows? If you have none to trade how can I start a collection? Any help in the right direction would be appreciated. Cheers

I empathize with you predicament. I (probably many others) started out where you are now. The good news is that its not too hard to start collecting shows. You will probably find those here who would be willing to give you copies of shows if you send them a blank cd and postage.

You can also buy shows (e.g. on Ebay) and then offer to trade copies. I atarted trading just two or three years ago with only one show and now I have over a hundred. Check the buy/trade/sell forum frequently. There are also other place you can find traders such as Phishhook.com.

Difficult I know, but try to avoid paying for product. Handing over cash for bootlegs puts you in a different bracket to those who swap or give them away. A few years ago the British Phonographic Industry were very tough on people who owned copies of live recordings, they failed to distinguish between those who were distributing them for profit and those who had personal collections. Mind you, I suppose my giving away a copy of something doesn't mean that the person I give it to won't copy it for profit to others. Some bands have taken a stance that they issue their own live recordings to anyone who wants one - I remember one of the Wedding Present taking orders for tapes almost immediately after a gig in 1988, and The Beloved used to send out tapes to their mailing list members. Different scale of operation and size of fanbase of course.
