how much money would you pay for a RARE jd/no item?

hi there.an interesting question. HOW MUCH MONEY WOULD YOU PAY FOR A RARE JOY DIVISION/NEW ORDER ITEM? I RECENTLY BID £102.00 FOR A NEW ORDER RELATED SINGLE AND WAS OUTBID!!!!!!!!! what sort of price you would be prepared to pay for some of the items that seem to crop up time to time on ebay etc. regards steve smith,barnsley,uk :)

If Electronic's "Until The End Of Time" CD single appeared again on e-bay, then I could be persuaded to part with a whole load of dosh.

Having said that, I recently bought a US CD-R with different mixes of Crystal, Brutal, and 60MPH on it for 60 quid (ouch), but it was worth it!

it seems to be a recurring thing this -electronic until the end of time-cd. you should have looked on the electronic website ! mine was £5 inc p+p!,but would never sell unless someone did me a trade for the other two-loved it the other track! the most i have paid so far is as follows; dont laugh you lot! everythings gone green -fac benelux cd £60-ebay someone like you-cdr promo-lon £51 -ebay in order - us cd promo qwest -£41- ebay brutal- uk cd promo lon -£25 -eil heres what i would pay; the other two-you can fly london £75+ the other two-loved it the other track £100+ new order-a new order sampler £50+ new order-fine time us cd promo-qwest £25+ new order-round & round us cd promo-qwest £25+ new order-touched by thog jap 3 inch cd £30+ new order-blue monday 88 jap 3 inch cd £30 i think these last 7 complete my collection so god knows what i would pay if i had the cash!!!! i hopwe that i"m not setting a dangerous precident by adding these prices,but this is what they regularly fetch on ebay. regards steve :)

Oh, without a doubt, I'd choose a gig over a record/CD (even if it was a choice between a gig and "Until The End Of Time")!

Last year, I travelled up to Aberdeen and then down to Dundee to go and see 808 State live - that wasn't cheap, but a great experience!

Yeah, if I could find either of the following on your list, I'd part with a fair whack:

the other two-you can fly london £75+ (CD 2 rather than CD 1 which I managed to find)

the other two-loved it the other track £100+ (rare as horsesh*t!)

Depends what condition the items are in obviously, but I certainly won't pay over the odds for anything - bearing in mind the ridiculous prices some collectors are willling to fork out for. It pays to haggle! :D

yep,they are rare but if you want them you have to part with the cash! i also like 808 state too,didnt bother after don solaris tho. have also got the us version of 808,90 titled united state 90. anyway back to the subject! regards steve:)

i"ve got to agree with you there chris,admittedly i have paid too much for some of the things in my collection,but i look at it this way if i dont buy it someone will! i am also too impatient and want everything at once! the 7 items above in my post are the last that i need ,then i"ll concentrate on something else ,like taking the wife on holiday etc! regards steve. :)

Nick I recall someone posesses the ultra rare Factory versions of the first Other Two album and an unreleased single on that big "JD/NO collections" thread.... have you seen that one yet?

The Movin' On mixes were also released on a promo cassette, although this too, is rare...

I have, however, got their '5 Tracks' promo CD-R which includes different mixes of tracks of Superhighways album tracks on it - see here for more details.

Have they got anything else planned? We did that Biting Tongues thing at the ICA, but would much rather see 808 State back gigging. Didn't realise they were still out and about to be honest. Dug ex:el out for a play yesterday, cracking album, not heard it in donkey's.

Spoke to Graham that night, and the only gig currently planned is a Spanish Festival at the beginning of August, which I *might* go to! He was hopeful that they might try some US and UK dates later in the year...

Nah, you can't actually see the buyer's max bid if you're a seller, but yeah, you're right - there is quite a bit of people getting their mates to bid high for an auction in an effort to bump up the price...

Still, nothing really you can do about that, unless you leave it until the last 10 seconds before you put your bid in... I believe there's also a program that will do this for you, saving you the hassle of staying up for the auction to finish?

BTW, talking of rare items, check this one out on e-bay - a Hacienda Box of Matches for 75 quid!!

The seller has a number of other items for sale, including a business card for 11 quid with it's own Factory number (FAC291)!

thanks for that nick,i must have just been unlucky then! does seem strange tho ,that i bid £101.56 and the auction was won with a bid of £102.56,this guy obviously bid by proxy. he must have put an incredible bid in for it! are you a seller then nick? i think i may have purchased new order-international cd+bonus dvd from you! regards steve :)

Only occasionally a seller, but yup, that was me selling my duplicate International+DVD - Amazon.co.uk lied when they said it was a UK version and I had already got the US version!

The price listed at the end is not in fact the max price the winner bid, but in fact the total for the item - i.e. they could have actually bid 150 quid for the item, but it's only listed as a quid more than previous high bidder!

My pet hate of e-bay is being the high bidder until 10 seconds to go, when some swine outbids you, and you then have no time to outbid them!

yep,this same guy emailed me a while back wanting to buy some jd/no posters .he left me his list you want to see it! many rare factory items! he wouldnt trade tho,wants hard cash. steve :)

...Especially if a box of matches has a starting price of 60 quid!

auction sentry is the program you were thinking of.

there are people out there that will pay crazy prices for stuff that is available if you look for a lot less

saying that - that was a lot to pay for the fbn cd of egg...

I think that it was (up to) 6 mixes of 'Movin' On' by Moby, only one of which got released officially.

The ones on the 5-track CD are:

well you have to be logged on to the net for it to work & he has started putting his bids in a little earlier recently so maybe he's stopped
