just curious what fellow NO fans think is their most memorable hooky solo in a NO/JD/Monaco/Revenge song.

mine has to be the solo in bizarre love triangle. always makes me do air hooky bass (i know, i'm sad)

Best Hooky bass moment - has to be Leave Me Alone at Gloucester 1984. He was playing it on the wrong string, realised and then completely lost the plot, and it was at least a minute into the song before anyone realised what the song was, including the rest of the band ! I'll try to stick it up online later today.

Excellent choice. You beat me to it. Reckon that portion is technically a "middle eight", can any musos confirm? Defineately Hooky's finest moment though in my opinion.

Also love the completely different ending he plays to Regret when they do it live, much preferable to the recorded version.

Well, just to be different, I'm gonna go with the "classic" Blue Monday. Great Hooky bass in that. Also love the solo proper in AOC.

but my fav mem is the encore at sheff roxy (do the ostrich )...it was about 2 in the morning and he stayed on stage on his own thrashing away whilst the rest of the gang were supping tea in the changing rooms!!

the brixton solo was a brilliant moment, but i've always had a soft spot for the bass on the album version of subculture!

Granted, I wasn't there, but I'm still hoping that one day I'll find a tape of this:

The gig was (...) marred by some violence when Peter jumped off the stage with his bass during the encore in pursuit of one of four or five bullies who were hassling the audience and climbing onto the stage. The amplified sound of Peter's bass hitting one of the tormentors blasted through The Factory, and the bassist finally caught up with him near the cloakroom. Peter, no doubt disgusted by the entire episode, came back to the stage long enough to put his bass away, then sat at a table while the band carried on."

Way to go, Hooky!

let's go (instrumental) and BLT (brotherhood) are both extraordinary. she's lost control comes in as a close runner-up. they are all pretty obvious choices, but that's because they are so fabulously, obviously, brilliantly hooky!

Hooky's bass on the live version of "Temptation" on the "Taras Shevchenko" video still sends chills down my spine.

IMHO, for raw and almost uncontrolled agression and energy, Hooky's bass intro to Disorder in the Amsterdam Paradiso gig beats the lot hands down

I also have a soft spot for the bassline in Turn My Way, Sub-Culture (album version of course) as well as Regret live.

Johnny Marr does a nice impression of a Hooky solo on For You.

On PC&L there is a great bassline by hooky on "The Village", it's way down in the mix, but still a great riff.
