As a fan which do you prefer! The old gigs where nothing was hardly said during sets or the chatty humourus gigs of late.

A set of 16 songs full of banters and stupid comments with a variable setlist like the old days.

Something impossible, I know.

Ten/eleven songs then maybe an encore if they'd enjoyed the gig. No banter (apart from the occasional funny bit), no idea what was coming up next. 1984-86 were fantastic years.

Maybe the reason for long sets today are their Joy Division songs. They are enjoying a lot to play them now. I'd like 12 songs including 3 by Joy Division.

Not wishing to be pedantic Julio, but the quote on your footer comes from New Zealand (Auckland) rather than Australia !

Não desejando ser pretencioso Julio, mas a citação em seu rodapé tem mais cara de Nova Zelândia que da Australia.

Yes,Auckland is in New Zealand.Thanks,Tim. I've lost the map in my last journey to the sun  All I can say at this moment is that your 5 cds are ready to leave Brazil on monday.

The old gigs where they said fuck all, they're musicians not performers, actors or comedians.

As I first saw them live at G-Mex in 1988, I've kind of joined in at the dividing line. Seeing them is always a pleasure but I would have loved to see them pre-Substance when, going by the Taras & Pumped vids, everything was so tense, unspoken and half the songs were still being experimented on.

I can't see New Order in Cleveland this summer, but I can see the legendary Buzzcocks, Human League (don't know who's in this version), and even the goddamned Sex Pistols.

Granted they are musicians before anything Mr Davies, but fuck me, are they not allowed to express themselves?

Barney's patter between songs makes some of the fuckin gigs for me. Espescially the Cologne gig, which I wasn't fortunate enough to be at.

Some people on here need to lighten up a wee bit. We've all seen the interviews, so we all know what to expect:D

Keep the banter comin lads:beer:

They shouldnt speak to the crowd at all, they shouldnt make eye contact with the crowd, in fact they should stand dead still with their back to the crowd play exact replicas of the album versions of their songs and then walk off.

Well thats what people want isnt it....? :evil4:

Yer both missing the point. In the good old days, and dialogue at all was a bonus, and it was what made certain gigs legendary, when Barney had something funny to say. Now it's almost as though he is trying to be a front man for the septic market, and it ain't him at all.

I suppose it's us youngsters against all you ole cunts again, I was half waiting for "You've never had it so good":evil4:

I'm only kidding Timbo, and I take yer point on board mate. But as Donovan stated in his "Ironic" reply, why should we bother our arse to go see the band at all, when we can sit at home and listen to the album? He made a point without even knowing it:D

Why be funny only once or twice, when yer a naturally funny guy, usually it's drink related these days, but the put downs and gobshite are all part of the "New" New Order.....remember they're more professional these days:nod:

Thing is, if you remove the "backs to the crowd" and "exact replicas" bits, this perfectly describes the My Bloody Valentine gig I went to...which was amazing, by the way.

No "Hello Cleveland!", no "thanks," no "good night"...nothin'.

Wouldn't work for Barney and Co., though, anymore than one of those little on-stage trampolines or rotating drum cages.

I think Red Hot Chili Peppers have already done that, and a few other bands that i can't remember.

Banter is good, unless they descend into becoming a cabaret band. Chicken in a basket anyone?

This would be good:

10-12 randomly selected songs No banter No JD stuff Gillian on keyboards One or two false starts during the gig

Dream on
