Remarkably, the question isn't "will my DVD player play NTSC", it will output whatever signal is on the DVD. The question is whether your TV will accept NTSC signals and play them in colour. It's all to do with the different number of lines in the picture, PAL = 625, NTSC = 525. If it is a fairly modern TV it should be able to handle it, especially if it is a reasonable make. Hope this helps.

 It happens here. Some tvs in my house we can watch it in b&w and others coloured.

VCD is a pretty poor relative of DVD.

It's actually closer in quality to VHS.

I think you are watching so much VHS to tell something like this

The point I was making was that if you have a decent VHS copy of PFD, getting a VCD is kind of a waste of time as the quality isn't much better. DVD is light years ahead of VCD and will likely continue to be the AV medium of choice for another 3-4 years, when current experiments with red and blue laser technology result in a superior medium. Then we can all sell our vast collections of DVDs for nothing and start again!

Now if they released Acadamy on DVD that would be something special! (with the FULL interviews of Hooky and Steve thrown in as extras!!)

Let's face it, we need a 3DVD set, comprising: DVD1: ALL the videos from Blue Monday 83 up to Here to Stay (as Ceremony, EGG, Temptation and TLU don't have videos as such, live or TV performances of those songs would be included as extras...)

DVD2: PFD Academy

DVD3: NewOrderStory
