Since the first time I heard 60 Miles an Hour sometimes last march or april, I always thought that song reminded me of an old french song, but couldn't put my finger on it, until TODAY where I surprised myself whistling the chorus of that old french song after listening to 60 mph -- it's COMMENT TE DIRE ADIEU from Edith Piaf, that was covered by The Communards in the 80s -- and actually, it's the Communards' version that I have in mind the most, since it was more rythmic.
The chorus seems to be very similar -- but New Order, and espcially Hooky's bass, are playing it an octave (is that an english word?) or two higher, or just differently -- but I DO think it sounds VERY similar when you take those guitars away and concentrate on the melody.
Geoffroy, qu'en dis-tu?
