Uh, not fair, which version "1995" that would be?
Since I never really liked Blue Monday, I must say that I really enjoy the Manuella Mix the the Hardfloor (at least edit) version of the song...

"Can't Get Blue Monday Out Of My Head", isn't that the version by Kylie Minogue?
Spotnick, how can you be a New Order fan and not like Blue Monday? I must admit on my recent 2 year trawl through all things New Order, Blue Monday was the last on my list (although I DID like it when it came out - too much - I've still got it in the loft but nothing to play it on!), however, I was presently surprised by the remixes - I even like the Moby remix! But my favourite's the 15 minute ZF version, although the 'Gregorian' chant version is something else (not strictly a remix I gues).
Moby remix?
Not heard of that one.
The Gregorian one is spoilt by the rawk guitars, my current fave is Flunk's version.

Yes, that's right. It's sort of a mash-up between the two than it is a cover of "Blue Monday," but I do count it as a version of the song. Anyways, I didn't say my favorite versions by New Order. I really think Kylie's does it justice and then some.

OK, I'm missing something here....What remixes?
Oh, and it's always gona be 1983 for me.
The '83, '88, or TOTP version. Yes, I do like the latter. The '95 version is just a travesty, though.

Do you mean what remixes was I pleasantly surprised by? Well the 2 I've already mentioned, and I like the Rob Searle, and the Manuella remixes. The problem with downloading off the Internet is that you end up with stuff that you don't know what it is (well, I don't); so I've also got something called a 'Chilled Out' mix; and then this one that says 'Moby Trance remix' - which I've never questioned until now (as I know there are connections between NO and Moby), but now I'm not so sure. But I'm always interested to hear remixes just to hear what people have done - having said that there are some remixes of NO songs that are SO removed from the original that I find tthem difficult to relate to.

Totally with you on that one Peter. Slim was just awesome. And Barney was just plastered.

Husker Du's Zen Arcade ? First Smiths album ? Porcupine ? Perverted By Language ?
The original version was yet another example of New Order breaking new ground. It has now been played to death on the radio, at clubs and by the band themselves, to the extent that I am not alone in being heartily sick of it. Can't see the point in remixes of it, don't own any (apart from where they were included on Retro) and would rather never hear it again.

And Hooky really got stuck in with the vocals also. Hated it at the time, thought it was just pantomime, but I've mellowed with age

After Extensive research I can reveal the Moby mix I'm referring to is also known as the 1995 (Andrea Remix)- it says here!
I thought that was the Manuela remix? All these Spanish birds eh? I'm off to Barcelona on Tuesday I'll have to check....
You are right; Andrea and Manuela are both Jam and Spoon's: and neither of them sound anything like what I've got. In fact I've worked my way through the remixes on this site (only portions obviously) but the one I have as a Moby remix doesn't sound like any of them - and there's nothing on Moby's site or anywhere else to suggest such a mix exists. However, I downloaded something off Winmx by that name and I don't recognise it as any of the mixes here. It's good though; maybe I can put it up for some of you guys to ID,'cos I'm curious.
There's a lot of wrongly-named stuff on P2P. I've seen the Hardfloor mix credited as 'Rob Searle 2002 White Label version' and the Orgy cover credited to Marilyn Manson. ![]()
