This week's R2 NO Docco.

Better. I liked the way they took time over True Faith, and World in Motion. I was particularly amused by the idea of Paul Gascoigne ding a completely indecipherable rap for World in motion (you'd probably need to be English and over 40 to appreciate this). I've ot nothing against Miranda Sawyer. I love Paul Morley for waring his heart on his sleeve with NO (Over here he's an embittered late night Culture critic), what he said about Get Ready was perceptive; I don't think NO are going to come out with the definitive 50+ album (the Stone's have already done it), shame to end on 'that' track but I'd fogotten the melodica.

Yep, it was loads better. I loved the story about the making of Technique where Barney and Hooky would send Steve down to the studio alone to do the drum tracks while they sat around drinking cocktails etc., and then, when Steve had finished his work too fast, they told him it wasn't quite right and he had to go back. Poor Steve, getting picked on like that. Even Morley was lucid. Great stuff.

i like that getting away with it was written from Morrisseys point of view. i remember reading an interview with moz where he said he hated it too!

i always feel that miranda sawyer doesn't have a clue what she's on about half the time though. i don't know why they bother interviewing her, she doesn't bring anything new but just reiterates things from previous interviews. i watched the extras on 24hrPP where she's watching the film with hooky etc and she doesnt have a fucking clue there either.

Got to admit that 24hr pp bit with them all looking at bits of it is crap. (for all concerned) MS looks like something that's fallen out of it's nest - aah, maybe that's why I like her!

Do my ears need cleaning out or did I hear right that Stephen and Gillian did some music for Shooting Stars? I hope Stephen didn't write George Dawes' drum solos.

I must say I'm getting highly suspicious of Miranda Sawyer seemingly clinging onto New Order since they've reformed. She seems desperate to tell everyone she's been part of the inner Order circle and yet I don't remember her having anything to do with them before '98. In fact, on the 24 Hr Party People dvd I was waiting for Hooky to turn to her at any minute and say "Sorry, love, what did you say your name was again?" I guess there must be some Mancunians on here who know how long she's "been on the scene", as the Kids used to say. She's had a bleach blonde bob for a decade, so someone must have remembered seeing her about, week-in-week-out.

on 24hrPP she says to Rowetta, 'Have you ever seen New Order??'. laughable. surprised she didnt ask Hooky!

The interview on 316 is no better either. when that came out i had no idea she was such a 'fan'. Maybe she plays dumb to get the band to answer for themselves?? i hope so.

An off-the-record comment from Ms Sawyer is that she sometimes has problems with technical points in her reviews/interviews. That said, I think her interview with the band in Tokyo before the Fuji festival in 2001 was one of the better pieces I've seen on NO in the media. They seem to open up more to her than they often do other reporters.

I reckon they feel an affinity with her that they don't with other journalists, how many of their projects has she been invited onto?, we've got to give her credit for that. Whatever her fan credentials, as we see 'em, Miranda's certainly built a relationship with the band that many would envy & that's part of her job.

Fair play to her.

I thought it just happened to Paul Morley.
