I have to fully agree with this statement. Paul Van Dyk's remix of 'Love Stimulation' is one of the best dance tune ever.
BTW, I liked Moby's "Go" as well - I think it's older, circa 1991..
Don't want to come across as all superior here but there's some dodgy taste exhibited on this thread.
im with you ian. apart from "expander", "scorchio" and "dark and long", theres been nothing mentioned that i rate. reads like a judge jules set list..
fac21 in particular, you list scares me mate. being from ulster i imagine youre familiar with the term "steekybeats".. in recent years i reckon tracks from the techno and prog house side of things have far outclassed the trance..apart from maybe art of trances "madagascar"..
SABRES OF PARADISE-SMOKEBELCH II ONE DOVE-WHITE LOVE(SLAM MIXES) ONE DOVE-FALLEN ONE DOVE-EVERYTHING THEY EVER DID ACTUALLY FSOL-PAPUA NEW GUINEA GAT DECOR-PASSION(NOT THE CHEESY VOCAL MIXES) FIRE ISLAND-FIRE ISLAND FARLEY AND HELLER-ULTRA FLAVA(AGAIN NOT THE LATER VOCAL MIXES)THOUGH I HAVE A FANTASTIC VERSION WITH AN ACAPELLA OVER IT. MAN 2 MAN MEET MAN PARISH-MALE STRIPPER BOCCA JUNIORS-RAISE (63 STEPS TO HEAVEN) LIL LOUIS-FRECH KISS A MAN CALLED ADAM-BAREFOOT IN THE HEAD A GUY CALLED GERALD-VOODOO RAY LESS STRESS-STRANGE AND DISTANT MUSIC FUSE-F.U. CHEMICAL BROTHERS-IT DOESN'T MATTER UNDERWORLD-REZ I DID LIST SOME MORE RECENT FAVES UNDER THE SINGLE OF THE YEAR THREAD.

Oh, you mean as in... "Get them fockin` steeeky beeets aaaf myyy radio te fock"
I'll change it slightly to make it a bit cooler then...
Out of Control (Sasha's Club Mix) Mercury and SOlace (Breeder Mix)
Finished Symphony is a classic track...I would personally class that as Prog or maybe Progressive breakbeat. Barbers' is a bit cheese but it's still an excellent uplifting trance tune.
I've got quite a few Progressive/Techno compiliations, and though I do like them a lot, I'd be hard pushed to name any 'classic' tunes off them

Velocity girl....than is a fine, fine selection of tunes
Expander apparently was originally a 'Spooky'(not NO related BTW) riff apparently...So all dues to Mr May
As stated earlier, I'm not much into dance, but She's Lost Control should be on anyone's list. It makes me dance (Dead Fly, of course)
Originally posted by velocity girl Was of course Energy52's Cafe Del Mar.Great tune that one
have to say,i hate it. seems to have been the template for every cheesy trance-by-numbers tune of the last 5 years...

martin, i have to admit i was once quite an avid trance fan, but this was about 4 or 5 years ago, before the "wasp trapped in a jar" sound took over. the one positive thing i can say about trance is that its at least a little more tolerable than hard house..

So you do have empathy then, for my utter disgust and homicidal loathing of this utter fetid cack that pollutes every shop, every boutique, every FcDonalds, every internet café on a Saturday, every goddamn square inch of public space in fact - Fucking Kiddy rave shite: you have to agree it's reached a nadir of nadirs: how much more barrel scraping can they come up with? You're dead right about those ubiquitous " wasp in a jam jar" keyboards - they always reminded me of fucking kazoos actually (now there's a nice derogatory put-down guaranteed to turn any eurocheese worshipper off...I hope!!) I don't know if you hated it as much as me, but, two summers ago, - and even to this day - when I hear that piece of tosscheese by ATB "9 PM (WHEN YOU DIE)" or whatever it was called - I just want to stab somebody. THAT was how much that kind of shit bugged me. Soulless, repetitive, cretinous, lowest-common-denominator identikit processed pap that just insults the intelligence. The ultimate aural placebo for the braindead cerebrally-unchallenged masses.
Everytime I see those fuckin Mark-Goodier-voice-overed ads on telly: "NOW DANCE 2002 386!!!" 'TRANCE-ARSE 2001!!" "CLUB IBIZA ANTHEMS NO. 98866" "THE BEST TRANCE MIX ALBUM IN THE WORLD...EVER 12,002"
It just makes me want to take an axe to the box....and then to a bone-headed baseball-capped twatty raver's head.
:\puke:
Oh SHIT!! I meant "cerebrally-CHALLENGED " masses...... freudian slip. Sorry.
Anyway, I'm still fumin'

youre not alone martin. its pretty soul destroying stuff, even in the club environment its impossible to feel anything but disgust for a lot of this music. and trust me ive been put through my paces, having been dragged to see to see everyone from judge jules to fergie to the biggest tosspot of them all, alex p, and all i can say is thank fuck for the drugs.
Hey, i`m only 18 you know, I can be a steek in Northern Ireland for another 27 Years!!! fac21, just out of curiosity, where in this fine province of ours, do you reside?

VG, once again you are spot on. Fergie needs to die. As does Jules. Alex P is to be honest, the worst DJ I've ever seen live, and that includes Oakey. Brandon Block is also a complete tosser. Hard House is the devils music.
I do admit to liking some trance...but bear with me....not the shite Alice Deejay, Castles in the Sky shite, but more progressive or 'tech' trance. Afterall Bedrock/Sasha/Nick Warren etc. could be labelled as being trance DJ's and they're all great.
Best Dj at the moment though is Darren EMerson. Check him out if you like funky house with a bit of a tech edge. His last 2 Global Underground mixes were fuckin' wikkid, and he is easily the best DJ I've seen live this year

Harsh words. There would be no Darren Emerson without Alex P, Brandon and Oaky. Respect your elders, Seb!

OK I was a bit harsh on Oakey, coz I know he's an important Dj and has done some good stuff...my opinion was based solely on watching him do a set at Clapham common earlier this year and it was dire-but then he was playing to about 30,000 people at the time.
Alex P though.....Grrrrrr..
I can't believe this thread has gone on for so long without anyone mentioning the greatest dance record EVER. I am referring of course to Agadoo by Black Lace.
Seriously though - no Mantronix ?
i love shannons "let the music play"; its a shame so much pre-house dance music is overlooked these days. another brilliant track, man parrishs "hip hop be bop(dont stop)", also carly simons "why", the ultimate balearic classic imo.

Ya gotta love those Miami Vice drums
