I think that those mixes, Shellshock and Brutal are the only mistakes New Order have ever made.

Could be....or could be the later "World Destruction" featuring John Lydon......thing is, although the music was simply A-W-E-S-O-M-E, I was far too caned off my face to notice the trifling little issue of "lyrics"!!! rule number one for me was always: FORGET THE MESSAGE - JUST LUXURIATE IN THAT WONDERFUL NOISE!!!! (I do that all the time with many NO songs anyway!!)

Ah yes.The pleasures of a mis spent youth.All those early Streetsounds albums,before they got crap.Trying to body pop,badly.Afrika Bambata's "Looking for the Perfect Beat" and "Renegades of Funk". I feel a head spinning sensation coming on.Then as with everything ,watered down crap such as Break Machine came out. ;) Mantronix was awsome.

I never understood the fuss about "Bullet In The Gun" - especially that Rabbit thingy mix. Absolute boe-lax. Lots of people seemed to like it though. And I never understood that whole "Perfecto FC" thang - seems to dumb-down dance muzak somewhat by giving it a 'label'. Still think Oaky's God, mind. He played the Gallery at Turnmills for the first time in ages 2 weeks back and even the members queue was 3hrs long. A class act on his day.

Do you go to Turnmills a lot Jarvo? Bit of a regular down there myself. I think Oakeys problem is he aims to be a bit too commercial nowadays, and fair play to him because he's earnt the right to do it. I just wouldn't choose to watch him now.

Tall Paul, Nick Warren, Sister Bliss, Jody Wiesternhof and Sander kleinenburg have been the best DJ's I've seen recently at Turnmills.

Used to live in there about 3/4 years ago - literally - but temper it a lot more nowadays. You ever been to D-Pressure? You get a big crowd of Gallery regulars in there.

I haven't mate-I do like the Turnmills crowd though so I might check it out.

Don't think theres as much petrol in the tank as there used to be coz I can only handle it about once a month nowadays-and generally the Gallery nights on Friday so I get an extra day to recover!

Yeah, D-Pressure is a Saturday, so not much chance to recover at all. Though it is an earlier finish, although the after-party usually drags on for hours. Miss caning it as much as I used to at Turnies, then wandering off to Tinseltown till midday talking utter boe-lax. Steve Lee was always the best DJ down there - no fancy mixes, just big chooons for the nutters on the graveyard shift.

yeah Trying to be more responsible these days. I was reminiscing the other day that when I met my missus about this time last year I'd been up for about 50something hours and still looked presentable. Nowadays If I'm not wrapped up in bed by 4 I'm fucked for the whole of the next week...

carl cox, summer of 1993, circus circus.. one of my best nights ever. i was only 15, so had to tell my parents quite a few little white lies, but i managed to get away with it :) as for the place reopening; it got such a bad press that i cant imagine the local council being too keen on the idea. werent the owners involved in a huge drugs seizure?
