I don't know if this song has been the primary topic of a thread before, but I personally find it to be one of the few very good songs on Brotherhood. Very dancable, with lovely synths and simply wonderful beats. Gotta love that drum solo in the middle. The sampling of the ricochet is a bit tacky, though. The song has a really strong multi-layered sound--not as much as in a masterpiece like the Substance version of TPK (not the butchered album version)--and it also doesn't rise and fall like TPK. Angel Dust could have easily been stretched out into a similar 8-minute epic and released as a single, in my opinion (maybe not as obvious a missed single as Vanishing Point, but why the band chose to release Fine Time instead of VP--the best song on the Weak Technique album--is completely beyond me). ok, sound off like you've got a pair...

Always loved this song, sounds so urgent and on edge, much like Hurt. Great sampling and effects, too bad Brotherhood couldn't have been more electronic. :scratch:

I like it too - and also its other incarnation as evil dust. They opened with it at the Edinburgh gig in September 1986 - it was awesome. Great guitars and bass.

Great song - one of the better tracks on the shoddy Brotherhood. Well worth a live listen if you get the chance, another of these songs that had all kinds of things going on in the speakers (like Ultraviolence) that you just wouldn't appreciate from hearing the record alone.

Personally, never been a fan. Starts badly and doesn't really go anywhere. A forerunner for Young Offender, the way the vocals swoon in then out. Messy.

Great song! I like the Ennio Morricone feel it has to it, with the big guitar chords and the whisteling bullit sound. I like it's evil twin even more.

i love it. well, i covered it for Community, didn´t i? i love its power and thanks to timbo i could listen to a live version to realize it got even better. and despite of what most people say i love that indian voice sample! :D

i like evil dust more, never heard it live.

Most conistently drab and laughable maybe. Fine Time is unlistenable, All The Way is a barely catchy acoustic song, Love Less is crap, Round and Round is okay but sounds a bit too dated now, Guilty Partner is no good, Run actually is good (but lacks a distinct synthy sound), Mr. Disco is boring, Vanishing Point is top-notch New Order at their best, and Dream Attack is a quite good closer for the album. Not nearly as consistently good as Movement, Low Life, PCL, or even Get Ready.

come on Churchy, you're talking shit now. Technique is awesome. Granted, Fine Time always gets skipped but the rest of the album is top-notch. Dead on about Dream Attack, though i think you understated it's greatness. Isn't this thread about Angel Dust? Never trust a Cure fan, i guess that's the moral.

Angel Dust is not bad but on usually my least favorite Brotherhood song. Swaps places with Weirdo and Broken Promise occaisionally making it to 7 or 8.

I agree with the Pope. I have to, I'm Catholic...

Seriously though - I never rated 'Technique' - but that's mainly because I prefer the more guitar based stuff.

I like the first side of 'Brotherhood' better than the second too.

That said, I think both albums piss all over just about 95% of other bands' releases in the last 10 years...

And age has nothing to do with it - I'm alot older than 'His Holiness' - it's just a matter of opinion and likes/dislikes...

A track that I really love, at first cause it didn't really sound like any other NO song, more like a more polished version of Cabaret Voltaire, with more guitar in the mix.

Yes, the instrumental section is a bit thick, there's a lot to listen for, but it pulled me right in at the first. Love the lyrics at well, they perfectly fit a situation at that time of my life as well.
