Cheers Al - making the inlays was originally Wen's idea when we first started the site.
Unfortunately (or fortunately!) he's really busy at the moment, so the site is up to me - any suggestions/complaints, etc, anyone is welcome to let me know.
Hope to meet up with you and the others, next time there's a piss-up in London...

Yeah, send your ISP a big fat tip. My downloads peaked at 290.1 Kbps! ![]()
thanks alot chris... however, sheffield city hall was the worst new order gig ever and im sure dreams was never played during a very short set..
you may have got it confused with the sheff uni gig a year earlier...this definately included dreams and as a gig was in a different class..
i went to both but have a very poor memory..perhaps i could be wrong
No problem, Paul - I made sure that I checked with the incredibly reliable NOOL Tour section first... ..surely BOTH of us couldn't have been wrong...? ![]()
And you're a couple of years younger than me... eeeek!
what about the polls for the next update? or it will be only your decision? (which is fine for me, you´re the bosses ;) )
too busy to administer the polls. So I guess it'll be chris's decision. Unless someone wants to help out

Illegal bootlegging.. tsk tsk tsk
:D
Which reminds me, NOOL had 5 gigabytes of live mp3s 2 years ago, we had to drop them because we were accused of bootlegging by Reprise, and caused us a lot of trouble and being called a "black sheep", all around.
So we don't know who told them, but someone did, you can scale down to two people :D
Oh yeah...
The usual disclaimer: NewOrderOnline has nothing to do with this site, but I can't stop free speach on this board!
P/S: Chris, none of the site as "UK" and "US" works anymore.. point to neworderretro.com for the UK and find the Rhino website for the US (it should be in the links here)

And I only had time to download 2 concerts !!! :(
No one cares more about...what's that band again?...New Order than Reprise Records.
If I had downloaded these illegal bootlegs, I'm sure by now I'd be digging on Barney's crazy whammy-bar feedback in "This Time of Night," soaking up the raw energy of "Everything's Gone Green," and generally revelling in what a tough live band this was.

Thanks for that Nic, and to re-affirm that - NewOrder Online and its webmasters have NOTHING WHATSOEVER to do with DNE.
I have been going on what Hooky said in 1985 - 'If anyone has copies of our gigs, get 'em out there, cos I'd like to hear them'
If he changes his mind, perhaps he'll email me and let me know.
Cheers Hooky. ![]()
Well, I wasn't expecting them to dig out some of them and put them on Retro though :D
I doubt New Order will ever release another live CD, the Retro will be the sole one!!
The BBC one wasn't released by New Order's label, it doesn't count ;)
Sheesh, so many bands released DVD and CDs at the same moment, why isn't that what happens here? Why Reading 98 and Finsbury 2002 not on CD yet? I doubt it would cost London a fortune, they could do profit out of this!
Originally posted by Al Jarvis Quality. And a good idea to make the cover too, nice one.
So long as no enterprising entrepeneurs out there misuse them to set up a cottage bootlegging industry, all is OK.
Seriously, the number of times I've seen (or heard reports of) stuff for sale on the likes of eBay at hugely inflated prices, when it's readily available for free elsewhere (at least approved by the band, irrespective of the legality) is positively shocking.
Enterprising entrepreneurs? Cottage Industry? You mean we could have made money out of that, instead of doing it completely for free???
DOH! ![]()
Hi Chris, great recording, thanks. BTW, you fucked up the link to the back cover pictures... They're all pointing to the front cover.
Ooops... sorry about the incorrect link - I was tired and it was around 4am... All sorted now. I'm one big fuck-up really!

Hey, at least you didn't get a "D" in basic HTML (like some people...such as myself
)
You can bet your bottom dollar that within a month someone will be selling this on E-bay, particularly as you've made it easy for them by designing a cover !
Seriously, making stuff available this way is asking for trouble, restricted access to secure area is the only way you can make recordings available without having some piss-taking bastard profitteer from your generosity and jeopardise your site and even possibly recordings collection.

Well, thanks to all who have left comments/suggestions.
As a result of the above, and similar (and we appreciate these - thanks) we have decided to make DNE a password protected site.
It will be available ONLY to registered Neworderonline members - requests for passwords should be directed to either myself (thirt33nth_man@hotmail.com) or to WenOrder on his email address.
We will be checking places like Ebay etc. and if any concerts/inlays are advertised for sale, we will delete our site immediately.
We make no profit whatsoever from the DNE site and may we assure everyone that no 'official' releases will ever be posted - we have never intended to reduce the band's or record companies' revenues and intend to continue in this vein.
It is a site for fans to hear gigs that they couldn't attend for whatever reason.
Hope that clears things up a bit and that you understand our reasons for taking this action.
![]()
we'll also be keeping a list of people we give the password out too. So, if it does end up on ebay with one of our CD inlay we'll know we're they came from.
Damn, I'm starting to sound like I work for Razormaid. Sorry. but like chris says, we never intended to start the site for profit. :)
let me clearify one thing, When Chris says registered neworderonline member, just tell us your nickname, you don't have to give us your login info and password! :D
Owhhhh.... that spoils all the fun! (joke)
Yeah - Mike's right - we don't want any personal details! ![]()
It's a real pity that is has had to come to this. One or two of the members here fall into the "pisstaking bastard" category. While the vast majority of fans are good honest people, there's always some chancers who will get something for nothing and then seek to make profit from it - I know who you are, plus the address the CDs were sent to.....
Consequently, I am now going to withdraw from sending any free live tapes/CDs to people unless I know them already. All contest winners will receive their prizes (when I finally get a chance to ship them), but after that there will be no freebies. Trades will be considered.
Keep up the good work Mike and Chris ![]()

Thanks for the gig fellas!!!
Very dissapointed to hear about the developments... :( I've always wanted to think that the people into JD/ NO weren't primarily into making a profit, wasn't that the idea of the bands and Factory after all ?
You guys will have to email chris for the login, I'll be away from my computer for the next couple weeks cause I'll be down in florida.
No problem Mike :)
New download late Sunday. Everyone please do bear in mind that if just one person produces any of our stuff for profit, then they screw it up for everyone else. We don't make profit (or any money actually!) So please don't spoil stuff for all the others.

I kind of missed out on a few of the Sheffield tracks due to being a very busy chappy just now and having a pish dial-up connection. ![]()
I was able to download BLT, This Time Of Night, EGG, As It Is..., Subculture and AOC..
Is there any chance/way that someone could make the remainder available to me?? I'd love you forever and ever and ever and be your bestest ever pal....
I'll tell you what, Graeme - there's a couple of people who missed a few tracks, so perhaps someone will upload the whole gig again, say Sunday night from around 10pm (GMT) and give everyone '24 Hours' to get the tracks they missed. Then perhaps a new gig will be posted...

Chris - e-mail me with a postal address and I'll sort you out a couple of shows for upload. I've got to do some copying tonight for other people so will get a couple of gigs ready.
Thankyou Chris for my password to DNE. Downloaded the Old Trafford gig as soon as i got it, great stuff. Interesting to compare this gig with the Shefield City Hall gig, newOrder are so much more animated and dare i say happy. Am waiting in anticipation for the rest of the Old Trafford gig on thursday. Keep up the good work mate.

I emailed your Hotmail address. Thanks alot for that ![]()

Correction to previous supposition...
I have a feeling that the whole Sheffield gig might be uploaded again from around 10pm GMT on Thursday. Then be replaced by the rest of the Old Trafford stuff sometime Friday morning.

Any requests for odd/rare NO mixes for Floyd's server? I have a few tucked away that wouldn't fit in with DNE at the moment, plus some reasonable cover versions.

Sheffield and Old Trafford gigs dled quite well. I was wondering if you of you had the forms that Barney was going to pass around at Old Trafford. And did they get good marks???? Remember, C was for dogshit. LOL
40,000 forms were given out, seven were returned.
Four of them said 'c' - dogshit
One said, 'Is dogshit going to be available for download?'
And the 'Other Two' were spoiled ballots.

Hey Chris, I tried to email you (via your profile) to get a password but it bounced. Any chance I can still get the Old Trafford (and Manchester?) gigs at some point? Is there another address I'm supposed to use? I've never sold anything on Ebay and I'm not about to start now.
Sheffield rocked, thanks...good to hear more stuff from the PFD era.
thanxs for the pw chris d/l was well fast but i can`t get covers for the old trafford d/l any chance someone could email em to me thanxs again .:D
Sheffield 86 was up from 10.30 (GMT) until Midday today. The Old Trafford gig (last 6 tracks and inlays) will be available from around 2pm Friday (today) until late Sunday/early Monday. Then there'll be a new gig for you...
![]()
damn, i missed it again
...
i should read this thread everyday :D
would someone on soulseek have downloaded and share it ?
thx ![]()
The rest of Old Trafford dled quite nice/quickly. The problem with the second running of Sheffield was that it was still labeled Old Trafford and Sooner Than U Think could not be opened the second time around.
TY, you people are the best.

Sorry about that - as always, I was doing it all late at night and not paying enough attention.
So people can FINALLY get the whole Sheffield gig, I'll put it up one last time - probably Monday morning. Then later in the week, the start of another gig...

1st post here, just to say Thanks Chris, i missed too the Sheffield gig but the Old Trafford gis it´s awesome:)
Thank you Chris for the Infos,But i couldnt send an answer to you back - my e mail server sucks.I know the Manchester 2002 gig from another Bootleg last year.
Thanks![]()
Downloaded the rest of the Old Trafford gig last night, great stuff, Bernard yelling "c'mon" on LWTUA, the sampling of Kylie on BM, loved it. Do you design the CD inlays Chris? The're great and help round off the whole package you have on offer. Keep it up, am looking forward to the next gig, Brixton 2001 i believe.
Originally posted by Chris Thanks guys. And yes, I design the inlays.

I'm keeping them up there for another couple of days. In future, I'm thinking of updating once every 2 weeks, as so many people seem to need more than a week to download everything! So, don't worry.

I managed to get the last six of Old Trafford last night, so now I just need to keep an eye out for the rerun of the first twelve.
So far I've seen Sheffield and Old T...have I missed one?
Thanks tremendously for doing this Chris it's a great help to those of us living on the wrong side of the planet. You guys RAWK. ![]()
Hi, Folks & especially 2 Chase...
...well as u know, that my job with the ftp server is, 2 offer studio worx & remixes of new order & side projects...
... but hoping that Chris, the master of DNE agrees with me, I will put on the numbers 1 - 12 of the old trafford gig 4 approx. 24 hours...
...be4 doing that, I'll wait 4 the positive reply from Chris...
Greetz, Floyd Anderson.

Floyd - if you want to do it, go for it mate! And thanks. Alot of people have been asking for things that they've missed. Trouble is, I can't keep posting the same 2 gigs over and over - people want new stuff as well. So, I'll leave the last 6 up there until Sunday, then start a new gig. I think that will give everyone a fair chance, won't it?
Cheers

Hi Chris...
...thx 4 positive reply...
...well then, here we are...
...I'll put the number 1 - 12 from the Old Trafford gig on the server; it will be deleted on 2003-08-15 10 p.m. middle-european summertime...
..be vigilant...:)
Greetz, Floyd Anderson.
chatmaster1@gmx.at
Hi Floyd, thanks for doing that. I'm trying to download the tracks, but unfortunately my connection is very slow and keeps dropping...I can't get either WS_FTP Pro or DAP to work (both get stuck asking me for a password), so I can't just resume after a drop either. I'll keep trying but I may have to just wait to get them. I appreciate the effort though.
And Chris, it's my own fault I missed them the first time so no worries, move on to the next gig when you feel it's time. Thanks again.
UPDATE: Hot dayum, I left a dozen download windows running overnight, with an estimated time of nearly 2 days on each, and came back this morning to find that almost all of them had finished successfully. Just wrapping up a reload of TBTHOG now and I'll have everything. Download speed has improved quite a bit. Woooo! Vielen Dank, Floyd! ![]()
Thanks for the password Chris, completing the OT gig now. I don't remember ANY of this gig due to the beer token arrangement at the bars (way too easy!).
Thanks a lot![]()
Thanks to Floyd too!!
Hi Chris...

...but some Q's:...
...I'll move 2 New Zealand & Tasmania 4 holidays 4 the whole October...
...so if u update the dne-site every 2 weeks, I'll miss alot, don't I ?...
...can I do anything against it ?...

Second part to follow a week later with CD inlays. Just to give you all a chance to download. I won't be posting about this much any more - keep an eye on the DNE site for info of 'next download' dates, etc.

...Kilburn National Ballroom is well done...
...Montreux, July 1993 would b nice being the next one !...:)
...and which proggy do u use 2 create covers & inlays ?...
Greetz, Floyd Anderson.
chatmaster1@gmx.at
Hi Floyd - Montreaux is a good idea, but people have been looking forward to the Brixton one...
I use Photoshop & Macromedia Fireworks. I don't do the inlays 'properly - just 10 minute knock-ups, but we thought it might be a nice bonus for people who couldn't make them for whatever reason.
![]()
Hi Chris...
...thx 4 reply... ...I also look forward 2 the brixton gig, and I'll b patient 4 the montreux gig indeed... ...and I'm a cover-freak, like more poeple, I think, but I'm an amateur against a professional like u, so keep going 4 that ! (I voted 4 it)...
...if u like an example 4 it, e-mail me ur address...

DAP works well for me. I use DAP for Floyd's ftp site but do not use it for DNE. The ftp site has less bandwidth and even with DAP and cable my dl speed is like 14 kps. DNE must be huge or no one is dling when I do. It ges very quickly without a dl accellerator.
I appreciate all the material available. It is great to hear this band live.
Just downloaded the Kilburn gig, very rough and raw, brilliant. Favourite bits, bernard saying "you talk to much" and "you still talk to much". 586 and Hurt never sounded better.

I can't find the Montreaux gig! So, it'll have to be something different.Perhaps Sunderland Mayfair - 15th August 1984 with a very early version of 'Sunrise' - where Barney uses mainly the lyrics from 'Temptation' plus alot of 'In and out' references! ![]()

Wasn't Sunderland the first time that NO performed LWTUA - or am I mistaken? Wasn't it a miners' benefit gig?
Well the track listing for Sunderland is:
Face Up Thieves Like Us Age Of Consent Your Silent Face Sooner Than You Think ICB The Village 586 Sunrise TPK Blue Monday
Not sure when they first performed LWTUA, but it doesn't seem to be that gig, unless there's a track missing, and at 11 tracks in 1984, I'd say that New Order were in a generous mood that night... ![]()
Thanks for letting me know Mike - more stuff to come when I have time to copy it!

They performed LWTUA at first as soundcheck in february 9th,1981 and live was in May 9th,1983 it was Rob Gretton's birthday. The cities they were played in sequence,London and Birmigham.
When is the next update of DNE, Chris? Dont want to look annoying but I am VERY curious about this Sunderland concert!!!
Hopefully sometime this weekend - I've been inundated with work over the last week. I'd like to get the first part sorted out in the next couple of days though. Don't worry, it WILL happen!

Oh, and another thing...I can't help it that my dad chose to move here to NA. FYI, he's a Brit. ;)
If anyone wants passwords, etc. please email me or Mike directly.
We need to keep a log of who has access, as we want to try to prevent any gigs being sold on sites like Ebay.
If people do start sending out passwords and circumventing us, we'll have to change the login details and everyone will have to apply again.
Not trying to be awkward, but we do need to keep fairly tight control of all this.
Thanks guys.

Bloody hell.... You know, I've been listening to Mark and Lard for years, and hadn't a clue as to what they meant by "e-mithering" (well, obviously they meant emailing, but I hadn't a clue as to the origin of their expression).

Thanks a lot for the latest additions to the site, Chris. Unfortunately, track 8 (586) is incomplete: it's only 4.43 MB. Could you please look into this?
Also, tracks 8 (586), 10 (Perfect Kiss) & 11 (Blue Monday) are encoded at 44 kHz, while the others are 48 kHz. I'm not complaining, but this does result in a difference in sound quality. Don't worry about it if you can't do anything about it, though! Many thanks all the same!!!
Originally posted by little boy lost Thanks a lot for the latest additions to the site, Chris. Unfortunately, track 8 (586) is incomplete: it's only 4.43 MB. Could you please look into this?
I got this too. But then I thought, hang on, this is roughly 45 minutes into the gig and I expect the chap taping the gig had to turn his C90 tape over. In those days you probably expected to fit a whole NO gig on one side of a tape - this looks like an exceptional case.
I'm actually amazed and eternally grateful that so many of these early 80s gigs have been recorded. Never thought I'd hear all these early versions of songs I've only known off by heart on record. It's a pity more gig videos don't get released - Factory must have taped a lot.
Oh dear... I'll see what I can do. I just took the tracks from a CDr, so it may just be a problem with the original. As for the sample rate, I was sure they were the same. I'll check and redo it if I can find the problem.
Thanks for the info guys.

Not sure what's going to be the next gig yet, though I do have a few gems...
The next update will hopefully be Track 8 - 586 in its entiretly - if I can get it to load...

I know I am getting annoying but I got used to DNE!!! It's like a hardcore drug now!!!! When and what will be my next fix, Chris? :D
Unfortunatly, I needed to shut down DNE. No because someone made me do it, it's because I need the server space. we'll get it started again after the new year, but it will not be known as Dreams Never End any longer
Well, too bad for the moment!!! But still a lot of thanks for the previous shows to u and Chris!
