It seems we've gone back into the old common thread of listing your New Order faves again....are we being repetititititive or what? are we being repetitititititive or what?? are we being repetititititititive or what??? are we being repetitititititive or what??? are we being repe....SCRATCH!!...er sorry.....the needle got a bit stuck there:

anyway, my personal DIRTY DOZEN best New Order faves would of course appear a bit like this: (the aforementioned compilation I spoke of with the three blancmanges and meat pie on the cover - see the topic "Best New Order related purchase" elsewhere for the full story folks)

Side One/ Part One

  1. AGE OF CONSENT - perfect opener!
  2. ALL THE WAY
  3. THIEVES LIKE US (12" original)
  4. TRUE FAITH (1987 12" original)
  5. CEREMONY (original green sleeve 12")
  6. BIZARRE LOVE TRIANGLE (LP version)

Side Two/Part Two 7) VANISHING POINT (LP version) 8) YOUR SILENT FACE (original LP version) 9) ALL DAY LONG 10) RUN (Technique LP version) 11) 1963 (1987 original 12" version) 12) THE PERFECT KISS (original 12") - the perfect kiss-off to the perfect dozen!!!

Okay, that's that done with, can we talk about something else now?

Martin, I have to agree on 'Age Of Consent' as opener. In fact, on an old NO tape of mine (10 years old), it opens it to full effect.

Going back to the best ones/fave ones dichotomy, there's something you can't discuss, it's the role some songs played at some points in your life.

That why my list might seem surprising at places but, these are songs that resonate with very intimate things in me : memories, feelings...

And I guess, music can only be truly interesting in that perspective, don't you think ?

I mean, music is so darn personal.

Some people found a bug in the forum, it shows your real name when you delete the message.. I'll have to put this on my To-Do list :D

As for the rest...

Come on, no album called best of can contain the horrible Shellshock.. this is probably the worst single ever released by New Order...

A best of album is to attract the fans that don't have the albums into having them buying the album, and the record label (especially in the US) didn't want it to be like Substance, but in the US they did it to sell records and promote the albums, I suspect the band didn't want that to be released, but it shows something when you put Vanishing Point on the album.

Funny, the band don't play any Technique song on the current tour, there is 4 of them on their best of album...

My personal Best of is the CD I did myself for the car, but it's not what I would have released as a best of for commercial success of course.

Best of for commercial:

  1. True Faith (Perfecto Radio Edit)
  2. Bizarre Love Triangle
  3. Blue Monday
  4. Round & Round
  5. Fine Time
  6. Ceremony
  7. Temptation
  8. The Perfect Kiss
  9. Regret
  10. World (Perfecto Radio Edit)

  12. Run
  13. Touched by the Hand of God
  14. Thieves Like Us
  15. Spooky (Minimix)
  16. Nineteen63 (Arthur Baker Radio Edit)
  17. Subculture

My personal best of

  1. Ceremony
  2. Temptation
  3. Dreams Never End
  4. Leave Me Alone
  5. Your Silent Face
  6. Age of Consent
  7. This Time of Night
  8. Subculture
  9. Love Vigilantes
  10. As It Is When It Was
  11. All Day Long
  12. Bizarre Love Triangle
  13. True Faith
  14. Touched by the Hand of God
  15. Round & Round
  16. Run
  17. Vanishing Point
  18. Regret

  20. Spooky (Minimix)
