Which is your favourite LP out of these two?

Simple poll really, which one's your favourite? Try not to look at this as an "Electronic vs. Monaco" or "I prefer Barney/Hooky" type thing, it's simply meant to gauge which record is best for you musically and overall.

I got the idea for this poll as both records have a great deal in common being poppy, summery, sometimes electic albums written by two different members of New Order as part of a duo (or trio if you count Karl Bartos for some RTP tracks). They were also the second album for each respective member of New Order (Revenge's "One True Passion" counts as one for Hooky) and released within one year of each other; '96 for Raise the pressure and '97 for Music for pleasure. Feel free to explain why you prefer one to the other and any favourite parts of the record i.e. singles, b-sides, lyrics, instrumentation, production, artwork etc.

My vote is Music for pleasure :thumb: I'm definitely not anti-Raise the pressure as I have a poster of the artwork right next to my desk but MFP is simply the stronger record for me. Untouchable in many respects.

RTP, no contest (85%/100%).

MFP is great too (75%/100%), but too much arsing around with the Oasis experiment...

RTP is the best NO album that was never made; very similar in approach to Technique, to me.

Generally speaking, RTP is an all out invitation to the floors of dance music... my favourite place!

I'd go with RTP just because Music for pleasure has that gay disco Sweet Lips which sounds pretty much like PSB track to me. I'd also like to point out that none of these two albums are my favourites as far as side projects are concerned. Now if you put TT Vs Monaco the 1st album, I'd have to think twice before answering. :p

MFP, without any possible doubt. When was the last time I listened to RTP? Many, many years ago. When was the last time I listened to MFP? Yesterday.

'Music for Pleasure' as it shows Hooky back with more control on the writing stage and very good variety of excellent tunes. But i too really like 'Raise the pressure' even tough i was more satisfied with the 3rd album from Electronic.

Raise The Pressure. I just can't stand Hookys voacals. Should have let David Potts sing on all tracks.

Raise the pressure is let down by 3 tracks, no's 5 / 7 / 12 - I can't remember their names. If these were ommitted and there were 10, it would be an outstanding album. As it is, MFP for me.

There´s even a resemblance between the cover of Technique and RTP: same puppet!

Dead or Alive, the band that did "You spin me round" if I remember correctly? Pants! But would you rather choose Sweet Lips over Kashmere?

To be honest, I tend to skip Sweet Lips. It's not one of my favorite tracks on MFP.

RTP was a good album. But I enjoy MFP a lot more. It's a great piece with well conceived tracks. Sure, some are funkier PSBesque songs, but they're damn good.

MFP is a very good album with several great tracks, but some of the tracks don't quite measure up. I think RPT is a much more even and overall better album.
