Was it a collaboration between Neil and Bernard, or just the words of the former?

Johnny and Bernard wrote the music, and Neil wrote the lyrics. According to Neil, apparently, the backing track of the song that Bernard and Johnny wrote him reminded him of the Mylene Farmer song "Desenchantee", so that's why Neil apparently named the song "Disappointed".

Cant understand why Tennant had full vocal duties on it myself. Ruined a decent tune,it was too pet shop boy sounding for me.

That's fine if you think that. We all have the right to like or dislike whatever we want. I personally loved it.:thumb:

Ah leather_girl, have you been on the alco-pops tonight? Your usual reaction to people you disagree with is to brand them an "idiot" and question "what the heck they're on about?".

There's something very wrong with the world when you're being nice!

Me neither. I like Neil's voice okay, but I love Bernard's, so the first time I heard the song I kept waiting to hear Bernard sing and was, well, disappointed.

I know Neil wrote the lyrics to getting away with it. Didn't he say recently that the song is about Morrisey?

Yeah he did.

The PSB b-side "Miserablism" is also about Mozzer, apparently.

Something like that, but I personally don't interpret the song that way, because I personally can't think of Morrissey whilst listening to the song.

...Neil has provided some fascinating background information: he and Sumner wrote the lyrics from the presumed perspective of former Smiths lead singer (and Marr's former writing partner) Morrissey, suggesting that he's been "getting away with" his "persona of being miserable" for years. taken from: http://www.geowayne.com/master.html?http://www.geowayne.com/faq.htm
