I found a copy of Monaco 2nd album and cheap 4.45 pounds or $10 canadian from a person who sell it with amazon.co.uk ($18 to ship to canada) still what a steal. As I am waiting for the cd, what would I expect, is it good like Music for pleasure? best track? your overall rating of 10? Your feed back to who has the album is apreciated. :)

I liked 'Music for Pleasure' better. I gave the 2nd album 2 or 3 listens over time and found it to be a good display of technical talent but mostly a bit plain. I don't recall any tracks that standout but it wasn't terrible so you may enjoy it. Not trying to rain on your parade, its a good find for any collection and you may very well like it or even love it, but I should warn you not to not to get too hyped to hear an extension of your New Order collection.
I think it's one of the best side-project albums; I certainly prefer it to MFP. I've Got a Feeling is class, as is See- Saw, Black Rain and It's A Boy. It's a really, really good pop album.
The best way to describe the second Monaco album is "mixed bag". However I'd also contradict that by saying it is probably their most consistent album next to Music For Pleasure which is quite eclectic musically. MFP had Indie-Rock, House, Trip-Hop and Film Soundtrack all within the short space of an hour but on "Monaco" they were aiming for a more settled and traditional band sound.
In terms of quality, I personally think that MFP will always be vastly superior. The second album simply lacked a strong hit single whereas MFP had those in spades. I've Got A Feeling is a solid tune but sounds a bit of a retread of what they'd done (better) before. There are also retreads of MFP's lyrical themes - the Hook/Aherne split - which worked well on the 1st album but sounds a bit tired here.
A Life Apart, Kashmere, Black Rain, It's A Boy and End of the World are my highlights of the second album. I didn't take to See-saw from day one and consider it to be the worst thing Monaco have done. Also, Ballroom is a bit forgettable and Marine seems nothing more than the 'token instrumental'; Drum'n'bass for the sake of it 
sounded like random band-wagon jumping.
6 and a half/10 for me, whereas MFP gets a well deserved 9/10. I personally think they should've done more tunes like Ultra and Shattered for the second album, been a bit more edgey...
Ah well.
One of those that just sits on the shelf cd's to me. Dont think it added anything,as Ally said the first album is on par with Electronic. This is Other Two standard-it just could've been better.
I got it and love the album, I wont grow tired of this. Its equally as good as MFP maybe better.

"Ive Got A Feeling", wasn't pop? What do you mean? The video had Hooky as a psychoanalyst for a lovesick dog, so it must be pop.
I am 100% in agreement...Marine is classic. I used it as my intro. during our wedding reception. The bass lines are FABULOUS.....
This is a very good find, RL. I'd been trying to find this album, without success. However, the price I'm looking at on your link is 29 pounds, which plus another 3 pounds for shipping. Too rich for me.

I paid 4.50 pounds brand new and 3 pounds shipping, just look around, best source is Amazon's 3rd party. They have great deals. 
I think it's a consistently good album but the best bits don't equal the highs of Music for Pleasure. I agree that See-Saw is a bit annoying and it's my least favourite on the LP. Kashmere should have been the second single but they probably wanted a Hook vocal instead of another Pottsy fronted track.
A pet peeve: The first three tracks (and the b-side Barfly) all have the same Hooky riff.
Feels like I've been here, before but years ago a mag described Brotherhood as a son of LowLife and I think many of their minor works can be seen thus: Movement to Closer, Republic to Technique, RTP to 'Lec, even Sirens to GR - and especially Monaco to M4P. Love Monaco esp It's A Boy, but it ain't on a par with its daddy (is that incestuous?). In fact I oft consider 97 as Hook's return to form - musically after the disappointments of Revenge and Republic, personally after the nasty tabloidy Merton split. Good stuff!
marine is the best song. potts and hook sing well. the weaker songs sound better than thousands of others .
This album does seem so alot more listenable than the Freebass album, thou never really gave it a good full listen.
"See-saw" is the one song I remember. It is just funny how it is such an upbeat cliched dance song anthem without being totally gay. Quite the accomplishment, thou a minor song as far his overall career, it makes me smile. I suppose Bernard tried the straight-gay disco idea on some Raise the Pressure tracks first thou.
