Just gave this track some listing again on boatraceface's library on Last.FM and bloody hell, is this a track where u can feel spring/summer around the corner or what??!!!??!!!

I assume they are two entirely different recording takes; the single version appears to have a more "live in studio" feel, a little more punch perhaps?
By the way, one of the best tracks made by Electronic. Ironically, one of the less "electronical" ones:)
Great single all round really including a cracking b side in "I Feel Alright". Adding Free Will, Disappointed and the DNA Get The Message to the second CD single was a stroke of genius too as they're all Factory-era Electronic at their peak.
For You is probably a contender for most Smith-sy sounding song Marr's ever done during his post-Smiths output.

Three versions exist:
Album version - original mix also features on the Best Of.
Promo version - A straightforward edit of Album version.
Single version - The album version "beefed up"... the guitars, vocals and drums all sound as if they have been double tracked and/or overdubbed. This mixed was obviously primed to come across as loudly as possible on radio.

I agree with all of this. I remember hearing RTP at a listening station in the record shop, the week it came out. I listened to only the first three songs, loved them, and I still do. “For You” in particular knocked me out as a piece of perfect pop, almost as much as hearing “Regret” the first time. To me it still sounds exactly what you would expect from a head-on collision of New Order and the Smiths - and yet it’s almost the only Electronic song to do so! [maybe “Tighten Up”, but not to the same extent].
Of course the full album never lived up to the expectations I had of it from that first contact. But I still find myself playing it as much as the frankly superior first album, for those first three songs and for the gorgeous “How Long”. As for the B-sides: "I Feel Alright" easily makes my top 10 Electronic songs. Among many other charms, you can hear Karl Bartos' influence coming through more clearly here than on his other co-writes. Not including it on the album instead of - considering only the synth tracks - “Freefall”, “UTTEOT” or “If you’ve got love” was inexplicable. As bemusing as putting “All that I need” on the Electronic compilation, in fact.
